(LifeSiteNews) —Catholic social teaching tells us that any government which departs from the divinely created natural order will replace that order with disorder.
My series, Frankly, tries to explain how this has taken place, and why we all seem to live in an insane, failed experiment. That is because we do.
To understand why this has happened and how – we have to look back in time. In the late 1800s, Pope Leo XIII warned of the errors of the modern world and of the chaos they would produce at scale. The nine encyclicals of Catholic social teaching fleshed out this warning, showing how a state which denied God and replaced His Church with a cult of man would govern the world into destruction.
A few decades after the last encyclical was published, Europe saw a wave of liberal revolutions. In almost 30 nations, liberal democracies were installed to replace the old order. This was the beginning of the liberal global system, with identical values, managed internationally, whose economy and social policies would be made ever more uniform. Today, in every Western liberal democracy, a sort of permanent social revolution is in place.
Normal life has been replaced with new norms – “Our Values.” Permanent war is promoted as the virtuous defense of democracy. Yet, despite periodic elections, nothing really changes – and the project of borderless denationalization continues regardless of who gets in to power.
This was the liberal system. It is completely unhinged. Its absence of balance in every area of life is due to the simple fact that it is opposed to the natural order created by God.
Liberal democracy is the brand name of a project to replace our entire civilization – with itself.
This includes the replacement of Christ with new tribal customs, the replacement of nations and their peoples with new consumers and a global system, and the replacement of the basic meaning of life – as well as words – with “new values.”
I try to show how this project was carried out, using techniques from psychoanalysis applied to propaganda, which powered the mass-marketing of the new way of life.
Practically everything in this system is a product animated by a sales pitch. This false ensoulment is designed to mobilize your deepest desires, literally making belief in things which do not merit it.
The attempt is to supply replacements for God, His Church, His sacraments, and all the attendant customs and traditions we inherited from the civilization founded in Europe by the Catholic Church between the 9th and 12th centuries.
I hope to show how these products are made. I argue that our news, our “thought leaders,” our state-sanctioned political beliefs are also products. The method of control employed in liberal democracy is not simply rule by media – it uses mass media to mobilize your desires.
When you enter the supermarket, you are presented with a dazzling array of brightly packaged products. The choices seem endless, and it is a task in itself to make them. This is called freedom – the freedom of choice – yet as I point out, you are free only to choose whatever is put on sale and nothing more. Of course – none of these choices are really free. We pay for them in several ways. Firstly, with money, also with time spent in choosing, and then in making these choices we exclude others. We select what is present and forget what is absent.
What is absent from the glamorous parade of consumer nihilism is meaning. There is no essential value to human life in this system, and that is because it is intentionally godless.
Throughout my shows I explore one aspect after another of the total system of “liberal democracy” and its consequences. I believe that system is now dissolving. I also believe it was a mass casualty event, driving souls into sin and minds into confusion, as universal desperation is the most profitable human condition for an economy based on monetized addictions.
All’s well that ends – as I like to say. As this diabolic system disintegrates remember that you do not have to disintegrate with it. Remember also that we are all wounded by this weapon of mass destruction presented as the perfect system. Our duty is to help the injured and heal the sick wherever we can, and so it is both good and wise to try to see yourself as a social missionary.
What is the mission? The mission is the salvation of souls through the message of the Church. The luminous wisdom of Catholic social teaching is a timeless recipe for the restoration of man and the state he is in. Like so much of Catholic tradition, the social teachings combine spiritual and practical wisdom. The problems of the world seem so complex, and it is miraculous that the Church should be capable of supplying answers which, once absorbed, seem both obvious and urgently sane.
This is because the Church does have the answers to life, and that is because it was founded by Christ Himself. Man cannot save himself. His clever machines and machinations simply ensnare him in ruin. Do not despair when you consider the catastrophes and casualties of the modern world. Take up the message of the Church and teach the world how to replace the near universal evil of the rotten old system with the common good. That is the product of Catholic social teaching, and it is time we reminded mankind that there is in fact an alternative to the counterfeit culture.
The project to replace our Christian civilization has failed. In place of the fake reality of propaganda and product, mankind hungers once again for the real thing. The West is turning back to reality, back to the truth.
This is a Good Thing, because as my friend Stephen Kokx once told me – “Where the truth is, there is God.”
