(LifeSiteNews) — A liberal Michigan legislator told “trans kids” to reach out to her if they want help getting surgical or chemical mutilation.
Michigan Democratic state Representative Carrie Rheingans posted a video on August 25 directed specifically at gender-confused children. The video followed an announcement by University of Michigan’s medical system that it would no longer inject gender-confused children with puberty blockers and other drugs. It reportedly did not commit surgical mutilation.
The decision came due to strong action by the Trump administration to protect gender-confused children from permanently damaging and unscientific procedures.
“The University of Michigan, including Michigan Medicine, is one of multiple institutions across the country that has received a federal subpoena as part of a criminal and civil investigation into [so-called] gender-affirming care for minors,” the university stated on August 25. “In light of that investigation, and given escalating external threats and risks, we will no longer provide gender [so-called] affirming hormonal therapies and puberty blocker medications for minors.”
In response, Rheingans, and others, urged kids and parents to seek the drugs and surgeries elsewhere.
Rheingans began her video by directly addressing “trans kids” and saying she made a video to talk to “you.”
She said in the video that so-called “gender-affirming care” is still legal and blamed “grown ups” at the University of Michigan for deciding to stop offering chemical and surgical mutilation.
“Contact us to get connected if you need!” a caption at the bottom of the Instagram video reads, along with her official government email address.
After explaining the university was no longer providing the practices in order to preserve access to federal healthcare dollars, Rheingans said, “I want you to know as [so-called] trans kids here in Michigan that this care [sic] is obviously safe and effective.”
She then said, “If you need to find a new place to get care, it is still legal here in Michigan and reach out to our office.” She also promised new resources for “parents and families.”
Rheingans then said, “we are really supportive of you as kids.”
Although Rheingans said “gender-affirming care” is “safe and effective” numerous medical experts, and the Department of Health and Human Services, have affirmed that the procedures are dangerous and unscientific. It is not possible for someone to change his or her sex.
In addition, the procedures have been linked to stroke, infertility, and bone density loss, as well as suicide.
Rheingans is not the only leftist Democrat in Michigan pushing for kids to have access to the procedures.
Representative Laurie Pohutsky posted a video similar to her Democratic colleague’s. Pohutsky is a pro-abortion, “bisexual” Democrat legislator.
“There are people currently working tirelessly to fill the gaps created by this decision,” she said, before urging her followers to follow a pro-LGBT group.
She also claimed “unequivocally” that “gender-affirming care is essential and supported by science.”
Pohutsky told her opponents to “go argue with a wall” if they disagree. According to the Democratic representative, she has “spent her entire time in the Michigan House supporting and passing legislation to protect trans Michiganders and that isn’t going to stop.” In addition to her left-wing activism, Pohutsky also boasted about sterilizing herself because Trump was elected.

“Just under two weeks ago, I underwent surgery to ensure that I would never have to navigate a pregnancy in Donald Trump’s America,” she announced in early February, suggesting she had the procedure around the time of Trump’s inauguration.
The promotion of transgender procedures for kids drew quick criticism.
“She is pushing evil child mutilation,” Elon Musk wrote in a response to Libs of TikTok, which posted the Pohutsky video. “Prison for life.”
“Let me be clear, child mutilation has no place in Michigan,” Republican Congresswoman Lisa McClain wrote.
