Today we celebrate the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God

Today, September 8, we celebrate the birth of Mary, the Mother of God.

This child, born to St. Joachim and St. Anne more than 2,000 years ago, was the most perfect human being to have ever existed. She was destined to bring forth an even greater child, God Himself, Our Incarnate Lord Jesus Christ.

In Mary’s womb, the Word was made flesh and hope was reborn in a fallen world.

Though still bearing the sorrows of this vale of tears, we may now look towards a new heaven and a new earth, where sorrow and death will be no more, and God will wipe every tear from our eyes.

Yet that time is not yet. Today Satan wages a furious war against God and those He loves: innocent babies who are killed in the womb, families shattered by a godless society, and the Church herself, which is being assaulted by corrupt and evil men.
