Celebrities expressed shock and mourning following the death of Christian conservative activist Charlie Kirk, 31, who was fatally shot while hosting an event at Utah Valley University in Orem on Wednesday.
Authorities are still searching for the shooter, with the FBI and Utah Public Safety Department both calling the incident a targeted attack on the husband and father of two.
The FBI has released photos of a person of interest and is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to an arrest. The shooter is described as being of college age, and a firearm, identified as a high-powered bolt-action rifle, was recovered in a wooded area near the scene. A footprint was also found.
Kirk’s death was confirmed by former President Donald Trump, who paid tribute to the activist on Truth Social. “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” Trump wrote. “He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my sympathies go out to his beautiful wife, Erika, and family.”
On Thursday, Trump announced he will award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously.
Following the news, public figures, from Tim and Demi Tebow to Chris Pratt, shared their grief.
