They Live | Power Line

The Charlie Kirk saga has entered the bizarro-world stage of the proceedings. The initial reactions of the progressive left were variations on “he deserved it,” “good riddance,” “he brought it on himself,” and the like. When that approach blew back on them with spectacular consequences, the latest ploy is almost a 180-degree shift.

Yesterday, they were cheering on Kirk’s assassin as a hero. Today, Tyler Robinson is suddenly a conservative Republican white supremacist far right religious Trump voter and Trump donor. All this, in the face of fully documented evidence 100 percent to the contrary.

I’ve seen it reported as fact that Robinson is a registered Republican voter. This despite reporting from USA Today (among other outlets),

He is registered to vote, though he lacks a party affiliation. His parents are registered Republicans.

Indeed, the portrait emerging of the young Robinson is one of adolescent rebellion, albeit an extreme case.

Images have been shown of a Trump donation from a Tyler Robinson, but apparently from one of what must be many Tyler Robinsons in existence.

I’ve seen AI fakes, deliberate misinterpretations of real photographs and videos, and “facts” invented out of nothing. In short, they are trying the same playbook as run on the young would-be assassin from Butler, Pennsylvania.

Yet, I see many commenters advising those of us on the right that we must “withhold judgement” until “all the facts are in.” The war for the truth began on Wednesday afternoon: now is no time to sit on the sidelines. And who, exactly, is the oracle who will eventually proclaim the whole story, in.a manner that all will accept?

Back to my theme about unknown knowns. Commentator Richard Fernandez posted on Twitter (X) earlier today,

The most spooky comment I kept reading, and I felt it myself, is “I haven’t felt this way since 9/11”. But no one could explain why this feeling. My guess is that is because something very complex stepped into the room. We sense it, but we have not yet fully seen its face.

I, too, have felt this. The origin of the English word “apocalypse” is from the original Greek meaning to uncover, to reveal. What we experienced this week was an uncovering, an unveiling, where a deep truth we didn’t know that we always knew came to the surface.

Unlike Fernandez, I have fully seen its face. To borrow another biblical phrase, the scales fell from my eyes.

The headline above refers to the science fiction movie They Live (1988) where special sunglasses allow the lead character (named “Nada”) to see the true nature of the world.

The only way out is through.
