Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) made what might have been the most tone-deaf or ridiculous posts about freedom of speech after one of the most outspoken advocates for the power of free Speech, Charlie Kirk, was assassinated while doing just that.
In a post on X on Monday, Crockett posted, “Free speech clearly isn’t FREE for everyone…” Her post included no other context.
Free speech clearly isn’t FREE for everyone…

But what we do know are two things.
1. It came days after the founder of Turning Point USA was murdered while speaking to college kids on the campus of Utah Valley University, in Orem, Utah. On Friday, police arrested Tyler Robinson, who is suspected of killing Kirk on September 10, and who they said was influenced by leftist ideology.
2. We know that since his brutal murder, leftists from all walks of life have celebrated his murder. And because actions have consequences, many have been suspended or lost their jobs because employers do not want to be associated with someone who would gladly dance on the grave of a murdered man, simply because they too didn’t agree with the things he said.
Immediately, after Crockett made her post, many people in the Conservative movement reacted with shock and disgust.
Yeah, they killed Charlie for his.
Talk to your side about that. https://t.co/CmnzmnBc7d— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) September 15, 2025
“Yeah, they killed Charlie for his. Talk to your side about that,” Conservative radio host Dana Loesch wrote on X.
Tomi Lahren added, “You’re right. Charlie Kirk literally died for it.”
It most certainly is. You can’t be criminally charged. However, as an employer, I ALWAYS consider content of character when it comes to employment. Low character people have no place at my company. https://t.co/9htsugdNkq

Fox Business’s Mark Tepper added, “It most certainly is. You can’t be criminally charged. However, as an employer, I always consider the content of character when it comes to employment. Low-character people have no place at my company.”
While another added, “Your side just shot a guy over it.”
It’s accountability culture, not cancel culture. We aren’t digging up that you said a bad word twenty years ago; we are holding you accountable right now for encouraging and celebrating violence. We don’t want to work with evil hearted people. Who are we? #WeAreCharlieKirk pic.twitter.com/hEW0EcSyVS

Another person nailed it, “It’s accountability culture, not cancel culture. We aren’t digging up that you said a bad word twenty years ago. We are holding you accountable right now for encouraging and celebrating violence. We don’t want to work with evil-hearted people. Who are we? Hashtag We Are Charlie Kirk.”
Others decided to take Crockett on a trip down memory lane, reminding her that it’s Democrats and those on the left who have tried to silence free Speech.
Eric Spencer added, “Tell me about it. Remember when [former President Barack] Obama used the IRS to target Conservative groups.”
Chelle wrote, “Charlie Hebdo agrees, Congresswoman Crockett.”
Your “side” got a guy fired for running a Tom Cotton editorial because speech is violence, remember? https://t.co/ctYvNDmIR6

As my RedState colleague Brandon Morse reported, people are losing their jobs at universities and places like the Washington Post because they either celebrated the murder of Kirk or used lies to justify/excuse it, and it has truly been disgusting to watch.
Morse wrote:
The nurses, “educators,” and others are suddenly getting booted out of their jobs after their hideous posts are all the same. They all celebrated murder.
And that’s what’s really being canceled here. We’re not coming down on someone for their politics. We’re not even coming down on them for their racism, bigotry, or sexism. We are a country that values the freedom to say things, no matter how stupid or ignorant they are.
What we’re cancelling is the culture of death. We’re cancelling the celebration of murder of the innocent.
Yes, what he said and others’ reaction to Crockett. This used to be a country where we didn’t celebrate murder. Unfortunately, it appears that this is no longer the case. And it needs to stop.
