NY Gov. Kathy Hochul Endorses Zohran Mamdani—but He Refuses to Return the Favor – RedState

Sometimes I wish we could use emojis in headlines, because I would have used the “laughing guy” one for this story.

Some news just makes me laugh out loud, you see, especially ones that involve Democrat infighting. Especially during a dark time like this, when so many are acting like soulless ghouls in the wake of the tragic murder of Charlie Kirk.

Whenever I read about a Dem internal spat, I smile because I think, “You guys deserve each other. And all your toxicity.”

In New York, Gov. Kathy Hochul took the risk of endorsing democrat socialist Zohran Mamdani for mayor, even though so far her spineless Empire State colleagues like Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries have refused to do so. Was Zohran grateful? Did he immediately do something nice for her?

Nope:

Zohran Mamdani refused to back Gov. Kathy Hochul for re-election after she gave the lefty Democratic mayoral nominee her coveted endorsement.

Hochul on Sunday endorsed Mamdani in the November mayoral race, claiming to have found common ground with the democratic socialist, including on the issue of affordability.

But Mamdani on Monday declined to return the favor, and did not pledge his backing of Hochul’s re-election bid next year — at least for the time being.

Why not? You may ask. It just wasn’t the right time, the winner of the Democrat nomination for mayor said. Right, Mamdani; we believe you.

He told reporters it was premature to ask about “the thing beyond the thing.” [Sounds like a Kamala Harris quote.]

“My focus is on November, and I’m excited to have the governor’s support in that fight for November,” Mamdani said.

Rep. Elise Stefanik (D-NY)—who has reportedly been thinking about her own possible gubernatorial bid—took a victory lap:

Yiatin Chu of the citywide group Asian Wave Alliance summed it up nicely: “Hochul got played.”

Zohran Mamdani’s CNN Interview Was So Moronic That Even Abby Phillip Couldn’t Let It Slide

“Comrade Kathy” chose to throw in with an extremist, and she’s already paying the price. All Democrats should take note: Mamdani will be all toothy smiles when he needs you, but when you need him, evidently, you just might see him turning the other way.

As I said, Dem infighting can be good theater, but there’s also a sobering reality behind it all. Zohran Mamdani stands a very good chance of winning the general election in November, and the thought of him as mayor of one of America’s (still but barely) greatest cities is galling, to say the least.

In the meantime, Hochul is going to need some towels to wipe all that egg off her face.

Editor’s Note: Zohran Mamdani is an avowed Democratic Socialist and has a real chance to become the next mayor of New York City.
