(LifeSiteNews) — President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he would designate the violent leftist movement Anifa as a domestic terrorist organization.
The president’s stated resolve follows in the wake of the assassination Charlie Kirk, who was often the target of death threats by leftists and whose murderer is thought to be associated with at least one left-wing extremist group.
“I am pleased to inform our many U.S.A. Patriots that I am designating ANTIFA, A SICK, DANGEROUS, RADICAL LEFT DISASTER, AS A MAJOR TERRORIST ORGANIZATION,” announced Trump on social media.
“I will also be strongly recommending that those funding ANTIFA be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards and practices,” said Trump. “Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
“Antifa is terrible,” the president told reporters at the White House on Monday. “These aren’t protests, these are crimes that they’re doing. They’re throwing bricks at cars of the ICE and Border Patrol. They’re professional agitators. They should be put in jail. What they’re doing to this country is really subversive.”
The Trump administration has signaled that it will soon issue an executive order dealing with violence and hate speech.
Conservative commentator and former Trump White House advisor Steve Bannon noted on Thursday that “Charlie Kirk’s death isn’t being treated as just a murder case.”
“This is going to be the end of days for this crowd,” suggested Bannon during his WarRoom podcast.
Bannon indicated that the most important component of the Antifa movement to target will not be the now-familiar violent mask-wearing activists dressed in black, but the powerful behind-the-scenes forces fueling the movement, including “the media connections, the corporate connections, the foundation connections, the university connections,” and those funding the movement.
He also suggested that foreign nations may be “in back of this.”
“This is going after the ‘Color Revolution’ in the United States of America,” said Bannon, “and it’s going to be full bore.”

“A Color Revolution is a carefully scripted coup intended to take down our constitutional republic and transform it into something unrecognizable to our Founders and inimical to our liberties,” noted Steve Mosher, president of the Population Research Institute and the author of Bully of Asia: Why China’s Dream is the New Threat to World Order.
“The forces arrayed against us are formidable,” explained Mosher immediately following the 2020 election. “I’m not talking here just about the Democrat Party. Despite the fact that it has been hollowed out by Socialists, it alone could be dealt with. Rather, I’m talking also about the Globalists and their institutions, including Wall Street and the major U.S. media. And, of course, I’m talking about the Chinese Communists and their many front organizations and flunkies in the United States.”
