Original story
Authorities now have a suspect in custody after a drive-by shooting incident damaged a building belonging to a Sacramento, California, television station on Friday, according to reports. And if the information about the man bears scrutiny, it’s troubling indeed.
As RedState’s Nick Amara previously wrote, liberals have been up in arms all week since Disney/ABC yanked host Jimmy Kimmel from the company’s late-night airwaves after the comedian reportedly told execs he would return on Wednesday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” program to double down on inaccurate and grotesque statements he made on air Monday about the assassination of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk.
Arama wrote that one protest happened at KXTV, the ABC Sacramento affiliate station, on Thursday:
They had signs, including one calling Trump “Hitler” and a “fascist enabler.” They also said “free speech is a right,” not understanding that yes, private companies can decide to pull a show, and that isn’t a violation of free speech.
Just about 24 hours after the protest, she continued, “at least three bullets were fired…[during] a drive-by shooting through a station window that faces the street.”
The gunfire was reported around 1:30 p.m., just 24 hours after around 15 people gathered outside ABC10 (KXTV) to protest the suspension of Kimmel. [….]
‘All of our employees are safe and unharmed,’ Tegna, KXTV’s parent company, spokesperson Molly McMahon said.

Now, there’s a major update, which could bode ill for anyone who’s been eager to “both-sides” the nation’s civil temperature in the wake of Kirk’s slaying.
Early Saturday morning, the Sacramento Police Department released a statement through a spokesperson: “The motive remains under investigation, and we would like to thank the FBI for providing resources in support of this investigation.”
Here’s what we know about the suspect so far:
Anibal Hernandez-Santana, 64, was later arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, negligent discharge of a firearm, and shooting into an occupied building.
This passage from Variety’s reporting linked above is especially eye-opening:

It reads:
A LinkedIn account matching that name indicates he previously was a legislative director for the California Federation of Teachers, and is now retired and engaged in “full time parenting.”
An X account matching that profile contains a steady stream of anti-Trump commentary.
“The authoritarian oligarchy is now complete,” the account posted in July. “CBS+ caving, big law firms in DC, the subservients FBI and AG, university presidents stepping down, fan boys SCOTUS, public radio, ICE goons. We are going to have to ‘fight like hell’. Rules don’t apply if election was stolen. FIGHT!”
The story continues with another social media post that appears to threaten President Trump:
On Thursday, the account posted: “Where is a good heart attack when we need it the most?? Please Join in my thoughts and prayers for the physical demise of our fearful leader.”
Police say they were able to track the alleged suspect after identifying his vehicle, then following that lead to a residence in downtown Sacramento. From there, authorities took Hernandez-Santana into custody and booked him into jail. Until his next court appearance (Tuesday, Sept. 23), he is being held in the Sacramento County Jail on $200,000 bail.
This is a developing story. RedState will provide updates as more information becomes available.
