President Donald Trump has said farewell to Britain’s King Charles after being entertained by the King and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle on Wednesday. Today, the President and the monarch parted company as Trump departed to visit the UK Prime Minister’s country residence, Chequers.
Their discussion occurred just beyond earshot of any microphones, in front of journalists and photographers. Nevertheless, with the help of our expert lip reader Nicola Hickling, we’ve attempted to decode what was genuinely said between the pair. Hickling suggested that “Charles appears awkward after this remark and shakes Trump’s hand in response.”
She observed: “His lips tighten, and he presses his tongue against the inside of his cheek, giving the impression of discomfort at Trump’s words.”
Trump then allegedly turns to the camera and says, “Thank you very much, everyone. He’s a great gentleman, a great gentleman and a great King.”

The interaction appears uncomfortable, with Charles’ body language contrasting sharply with that of Trump’s. Identifying the causes of Prince Charles’ apparent unease can be tricky, but despite their generally amicable relationship, there may be a few points of contention between them.
