Jimmy’s back!

We hardly missed ye. From Variety,

Jimmy Kimmel Returns: ABC Ends Suspension Starting Tuesday.

The guy didn’t even miss a paycheck. A possible plot twist?

Indeed, it remains unclear if all ABC affiliates will air Kimmel’s program. Spokespersons for Nexstar and Sinclair could not be reached for immediate comment.

Which Kimmel will show up tomorrow?

It is not clear if Kimmel will offer an apology for his remarks.

Don’t expect a Network-style “I’m mad as hell” rant by Kimmel. He’ll say the absolute minimum required, then on Wednesday resume with his usual fare of libel and Trump bashing.

The New York Post says that Kimmel won’t be apologizing. They report,

Jimmy Kimmel will be back on air Tuesday — but he won’t be apologizing for his false claim last week that Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer was part of the “MAGA gang,” The Post has learned.

Apparently, under the 1st Amendment, the U.S. Constitution guarantees everyone a FCC-licensed, broadcast-network platform to air one-sided libel, without any consequences, while being paid $15 million/year. This is what’s known as the “public interest standard.”

Meanwhile, the stock of parent company Walt Disney (ticker symbol: DIS) took another hit today, falling by more than 1 percent on a day that the broader markets set new all-time records. Disney is down almost 3 percent for the week since putting Kimmel on suspension.

The S&P 500 index was up today (new record).

Democrats/progressives/leftists will view Kimmel’s return as a great victory over Trump. But, in the almost two weeks since the murder of Charlie Kirk, it’s becoming clearer that his assassination was (to borrow from Talleyrand) worse than a crime, it was a mistake.

The culture has shifted and Kimmel was left behind, no matter how long he remains on late night tv.
