The assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk has been hard for our country, and even after his death, he’s trying to heal the country he loved with these two last quotes from what would turn out to be his last interview.
One hour before Kirk would walk onto the campus at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah on September 10 for his final campus tour, he sat down with Andrew K. Smith at the Restaurantology Summit by Savory in Salt Lake City, for what Smith described as “a warm, inspiring, and apolitical dialogue on entrepreneurship, building businesses, and an outlook for tomorrow.”

An hour before his event at UVU, I sat down with Charlie Kirk for what would become his final recorded conversation: a warm, inspiring, and apolitical dialogue on entrepreneurship, building businesses and an outlook for tomorrow.

It initially aired on Fox’s subscription site, Fox Nation, on Friday and later on Fox News over the weekend. The entire interview lasted just a little over half an hour. And while many parts do not specifically deal with what TPUSA was doing across the country on college campuses, it is hard not to hear his words about building alliances and trying to make things better for everyone without thinking of how much better our country is thanks to Charlie and his organization.
Here are a few moments that stood out.
At the 4:35 minute mark, Kirk hinted that he had been working on several projects he was excited to share with us in the coming months.
“I have some entrepreneurial stuff we are actually going to announce later this year,” the conservative commentator said. “So, that’s a little bit of a tease.”
At the 23:00 minute mark, Kirk talked about how it can be difficult when he received “negative feedback” to do one of two things. Either “take it personally or dismiss it. It takes time for me to feel like look ‘great opportunity to be better.’ That’s not natural because you get defensive.”
And before the two men said goodbye, the host asked Charlie, “What is a quote that you live by?” (31:36 minute mark).
Kirk didn’t just leave one but two.
“I am a Christian. I wear it on my sleeve,” Kirk said. “So, quotes would always probably be Bible verses. I’ll give you two. One is actually not in the Bible; it’s more mythological. And one is actually in the Bible.”
“The first is, not in the bible, This too shall pass,” he added. “But it’s King Solomon’s phrase, which is really amazing when you think about it. Because it’s good no matter what season of life you are in. If you are going through the worst of times, this too shall pass, and things are going to get better. If you are going through the best of times, though, it’s really humbling. This too shall pass. And this shall fade away, because this will not last forever. So, I love that.”
“One of my favorite verses, though, is Romans 8:28,” Kirk continued. “Which it says that God works all things for good for those who love him. It’s a very freeing and liberating verse for those of us that are Christians because we believe when things can be really bad, God is working it for his good, his perfect and pleasing will…And there is a God, and I am not him. And I surrender to his will.”
I am sure it is not an accident that both quotes he shared can provide some comfort to those who are hurting and need to hear, almost like he knew we would need it after he was gone.
As my RedState colleagues reported, on Sunday, 70,000+ turned out to honor the late TPUSA founder at his memorial in Arizona. It was attended by family and friends, including President Donald Trump and his cabinet.

All the speeches were truly inspirational, especially his widow Erika Kirk’s. However, there were two other speakers who you might have missed early on during the memorial, and I think their words could help those who are struggling as well.
First comes from Charlie’s pastor, Rob McCoy. The video is below.
Heartbreaking.
Pastor McCoy quotes Abraham Lincoln when addressing Charlie’s wife Erika, their 2 babies, his parents & sister:

Second was the words from the President of Hillsdale College, Dr. Larry Arnn. The clip is shared here. During his speech, he talked about how even though he was killed, Charlie lives on.

Arnn also announced that they would be giving Charlie and Erika honorary degrees next spring.
