One of the problems that former Vice President Kamala Harris has is that she is a horrible communicator.
She demonstrated that throughout her presidential campaign, and it’s one of the main reasons she lost.
Another problem is that she seems to have terrible judgment. If she wants to run in 2028 or remain viable with other Democrats, her book isn’t helping her as she keeps saying things that diss other Democrats or that show her lack of judgment.
Now she’s gone on Rachel Maddow’s show to hawk her book, and Maddow asked her about one of the things in the book: her decision not to pick Biden Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg as a running mate. You can see Maddow has some trouble with what Harris did, but the explanation in typical Kamala-ese isn’t working. Harris claimed she didn’t say that he couldn’t be on the ticket because he was gay. Then goes on to say exactly that.
Maddow presses Harris on Buttigieg: to say that he couldn’t be on the ticket effectively because he was gay. It’s hard to hear.

Because she only had 107 days, it would be “a real risk,” she says. It wasn’t about “prejudice” on her part, she claims. And she somehow thinks that will go over with people? This is what I mean by a lack of judgment. But hey, she’s an ally! Are Democrats going to try to justify this discrimination?

Then, too, there was the hilarious effort to claim the election was incredibly close.
Kamala says that the 2024 election— in which she lost every single swing state and the popular vote— “ended up being the closest presidential election in the 21st century.”

Um, no. She lost all the swing states and the popular vote.
Even the New York Times noted the incredible movement toward Trump and the Republicans in the 2024 election, if you looked at the counties.
And 2,678 counties became more Republican, by an average of 13.3 percentage points. That’s six times as many counties moving toward the G.O.P. than toward the Democratic Party — and by a substantially wider margin.
The erosion of working-class support — among Black, white and Latino voters alike — has unnerved every ideological wing of the Democratic Party.
Kamala has some serious coping going on — it reminds me of Hillary Clinton, and that’s not a compliment.
She wouldn’t comment on whether she would run in 2028, saying, “That’s not my focus right now.”

Sounds like she’s running. But I’m not sure they would even want her again.
Then there was her failure to give a simple answer to the question of whether she would endorse Zohran Mamdani for mayor of New York City. She says he’s not the only “star” of the Democrat Party — then mentions two women most people have never heard of.
Kamala Harris completely deflects from a question about Zohran Mamdani’s influence on the Democratic Party:
“He’s not the only star. I know he’s in New York and New Yorkers think they’re the center of the world… but there are people like Barbara Drummond in Mobile, Alabama…… pic.twitter.com/nauKXv9f6H

She also said she was “reckless” not to challenge Joe Biden’s decision to run again. That wasn’t the only thing she was reckless about — she should have revealed what she knew about his cognitive issues.
But one of her worst and most bizarre comments of the night had to be when she claimed President Donald Trump was a “tyrant” and a “communist dictator.” What the heck?

Trump’s a communist dictator? Wait, aren’t those the guys on the left? And then they also claim he’s a “fascist.” Kamala’s sounding awfully confused again.
Then, too, read the room. In the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, the Democrats have been saying people should dial back the rhetoric. Yet, she’s at about an 11 out of 10 here on the extreme-meter. She can’t even keep her fear-mongering straight.
And she wonders why she lost?
