OTTAWA (LifeSiteNews) – Chris Barber, co-leader of the 2022 Freedom Convoy against COVID mandates, suggested he will need to obtain “security” for himself come his October 7 court date, to keep him safe from “crazy obsessed” people attacking him online.
Barber wrote Sunday on X, “We will need security in Ottawa on Oct 7th for the fear of crazy obsessed individuals like this quack, after the death of Charlie Kirk a few weeks ago.”
“The anger and hatred the government has created against individuals who simply stood against overreach is ludicrous,” he added.
Barber wrote his note in reply to an X post from a user who wrote to him, “Fu** off, Barber.”
“You are an idiot trying to correlate these two ideas in this way. It’s disingenuous and you continue to confirm why you are a convict and you belong in prison!”
The X user, @xmailroger2024, had replied to a post from Barber regarding the planned culling by Canadian officials of some 400 ostriches.
The planned culling of some 400 ostriches, which looks to be taking place today, on a Canadian farm has sparked outrage and calls against government overreach.
Barber, in a subsequent post, wrote about his concerns about “lunatics” trying to accost him on his October 7 court date in Ottawa.
“And if I leave the courtroom on oct 7th, this bastard will be the one I worry about with a gun out front!!!” he wrote.
“If anyone knows the identity of this deranged lunatic, please message me.”
The X user, @xmailroger2024, had replied to Barber, “I look forward to seeing the Hill Billy Convoy crowd cry when Barber is taken out of the courtroom in handcuffs!”
The sentencing trial for Tamara Lich, the other Freedom Convoy leader, and Barber took place in July at a hearing. Earlier this year, they were found guilty of mischief in their roles in the 2022 convoy.
As reported by LifeSiteNews, Lich revealed that the Canadian federal government is looking to put her in jail for no less than seven years and Barber for eight years. The Crown is also looking to seize Barber’s truck, which he used in the convoy, named “Big Red.”
A sentencing hearing has been scheduled in their case for October 7 in Ottawa.
As reported by LifeSiteNews, Lich recently said she has put her “trust” in Jesus regarding the outcome of her trial sentencing verdict.
Both Lich and Barber were the main faces of the 2022 Freedom Convoy, which descended upon Ottawa demanding an end to all COVID mandates.
In early 2022, the Freedom Convoy saw thousands of Canadians from coast to coast come to Ottawa to demand an end to COVID mandates in all forms. Despite the peaceful nature of the protest, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government enacted the never-before-used Emergencies Act (EA) on February 14, 2022.
During the clear-out of protesters after the EA was put in place, one protester, an elderly lady, was trampled by a police horse, and one conservative female reporter was beaten by police and shot with a tear gas canister.
Trudeau revoked the EA on February 23.
