US is a ‘puppet regime’ of Israel, gov’t officials ‘actively complicit’ in genocide: Jeffrey Sachs

(LifeSiteNews) — While the Israeli government continues to commit genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza, the United States led by President Donald Trump remains complicit in this “maximal crime” along with other aggressions in the region revealing it to be “a kind of puppet regime” of the Israelis.

This analysis and more was offered by Columbia University economist and senior UN adviser Jeffrey Sachs in a September 17 interview with Judge Andrew Napolitano.

The conversation also focused on Israel’s “mode of behavior” being “assassination” of their enemies, last week’s United Nations report confirming the crime of genocide taking place, Israel’s simultaneous hosting of 250 American legislators for an all-expense paid conference in Jerusalem, and the dangers faced by U.S. officials for violating international law with their complicity in genocide.

The same day as Charlie Kirk’s assassination, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz addressed his nation’s bombing strike against Hamas officials in Doha, Qatar, a nation that a very close ally to the U.S. and hosts their largest military base in the Middle East. “Israel’s long arm will act against its enemies anywhere. There is no place where they can hide,” Katz raged.

This raid, dubbed “Operation Summit of Fire,” was the first known Israeli military attack upon the soil of the Gulf Arab state, with the primary targets being Hamas officials negotiating a U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal to end the conflict in Gaza.

Considering the closeness of Qatar with the U.S., and Trump’s muted response regarding the attack, which killed six, Sachs said it “sent a message to the Arab world that the United States would not protect (it) … against attacks from Israel,” and that “Israel operates with complete impunity in the region.”

“This is leading to a very serious assessment by countries in the Arab region about the meaning of the US foreign policy in this context,” he continued in an apparent reference to an Arab-Islamic Emergency Summit convened immediately in response to the strike.

“Israel is understood for what it is, a rampaging rogue state that operates outside of international law,” the well-known analyst continued. “But the United States was judged by at least some of the countries in the region to have some glimmer of responsibility vis-a-vis Israel’s illegal behavior, and that seems now to have been decisively disproved.”

Trump administration a ‘Mossad government’

Specifically addressing the U.S. State Department’s blocking of Palestine’s U.N. delegation to attend this month’s high-level General Assembly meetings in New York, Sachs said, “the United States government profoundly discredits itself” in its violation of international law with regards to “the rights of delegations to come to the United Nations. We are the host institution, and this administration is only doing what Israel says.”

“It’s basically two (nations, Israel and the U.S.) against the whole world at this point,” the professor said, emphasizing the isolation of both nations. On September 19, the UN General Assembly voted 145-5 in favor of allowing Palestine’s delegation to participate in the deliberations virtually after the U.S. State Department’s denial of their entry visas into the country. Those who voted against the resolution were Israel, the U.S., Nauru, Palau, and Paraguay.

“There is no American foreign policy,” the political analyst responded. “There is only Israeli foreign policy implemented by a kind of puppet regime in the United States.”

Doubling-down on his referring to the U.S. government as a “puppet regime,” he said, “we’re pulled on the strings by the Mossad, by the Israeli government.”

Napolitano went on to reference a recent report regarding Mossad agents having been caught planting electrical listening devices in U.S. Secret Service vehicles reserved to rush a president to the hospital if needed, and the fact that “nobody was arrested” for this crime.

Replying with candor, Sachs said the U.S. is a “Mossad government. Why would they be arrested?”

US political class ‘actively complicit’ in ‘the most grievous, heinous crime on the planet,’ genocide

Continuing to make his case, the political analyst cited the “50 States, One Israel” conference being held in Jerusalem last week that hosted 250 American legislators, the largest ever for such lobbyist-funded junkets, where the likes of even Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — who has been indicted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court — thanked them “for coming here to stand with Israel.”

“We have members of Congress sitting, listening to this war criminal just in recent days who tells them about all the virtues of Israel as Israel is committing a genocide just nearby where the American congressmen sit,” Sachs lamented. “It’s not only a disgrace and a dereliction of duty, it is a culpability of the American political class because it is a direct complicity in genocide.”

The Genocide Convention of 1948 stipulates that officials in member states have a positive obligation to “prevent and to punish” perpetrators of genocide including those guilty of “complicity in genocide.”

Highlighting these dimensions, the former U.N. adviser explained, “one of the most important points” of this international convention is that “every country has the responsibility to stop a genocide, (as) it’s the most grievous, heinous crime on the planet. And not only is the United States political class not stopping it. It is actively complicit in it.”

‘Hundreds of thousands of people are being starved to death right now’

Last week, a United Nations commission under the UN Human Rights Council issued a legal analysis concluding, in the words of its chairman, that “Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.” This judgment echoed the findings of Israeli and other human rights organizations, Jewish holocaust experts, political leaders,  and many more.

Holding up the extensive UN report, Sachs described the 72-page text as packed with evidence and legal analysis, “an extraordinarily deep, penetrating, and horrifying document, horrifying in that it lays out in full clarity the Israeli commission of genocide that is underway just as we speak.”

“It is very thorough in the different categories of genocide, in the starvation, the intentional killings, the bombings,” he described. “It’s very stark in the intention of the political leaders of Israel quoting them, which is not hard to do because they have not disguised their genocidal intent.”

‘Israel will never live this down’

Having discussed this “compelling document” that details this “most shocking circumstance on the planet,” Sachs went on to highlight another UN-supported report which declared in late August that the mass starvation of civilians in Gaza has reached famine level.

‘The Israeli government is murderous, but the Trump government is complicit, and it provides the means for Israel’s mass murder.’

“It’s a completely thorough, systematic, professional, detailed, evidence-rich report” which determines famine to be “currently occurring in Gaza,” he said.

“There are hundreds of thousands of people being starved to death right now, being starved to death,” Sachs emphasized. “If this continues and we have mass starvation, Israel will never live this down.”

“Whether Israel survives this, I don’t know. But if we have the mass deaths that would be the continuation of a starvation campaign that’s underway, I frankly cannot see how the State of Israel could survive that,” he said.

‘American people overwhelmingly aghast and distraught at Israel’s rogue criminality’

Asked by Napolitano “how much more horror does the world have to witness before some force restrains Netanyahu and his colleagues?” the economist replied, “the problems are basically the Trump government, the Trump White House.”

“The Israeli government is murderous, but the Trump government is complicit, and it provides the means for Israel’s mass murder,” he said.

Such assistance comes through massive financing, an ongoing stream of weapons supplies, and diplomatic cover where the U.S. will use its veto power at the UN Security Council to block Gaza ceasefire agreements or the admission of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations.

‘Microsoft, Google, Amazon, OpenAI, Dell, and Palantir’ also ‘complicit in genocide’

With polls showing 50% of American voters recognizing Israel’s crime of genocide in Gaza, and 60% wishing to cut off the self-proclaimed “Jewish state” from U.S. foreign aid, Sachs assessed “the American people overwhelmingly are aghast and distraught at Israel’s rogue criminality and crimes against humanity.”

Those primarily responsible are individuals in the U.S. executive branch, “maybe the people on Epstein’s list, maybe the people who have been bribed in other ways, maybe people who have whatever delusional motivation they think they have” to support these crimes, he said.

“But this is a small group in the United States that sides with a murderous group in Israel to commit genocide.”

In addition to U.S. officials being complicit in the genocide in Gaza, many corporations who provide significant support to the Israeli army are as well. These include Microsoft, Google, Amazon, OpenAI, Dell, and Palantir. “They are complicit in this genocide” as well, Sachs affirmed, and subject to prosecution under international law.

Israelis don’t view Palestinians and other Arabs as ‘human beings’

Despite the fact that innocents were killed in Israel’s decapitation strike upon Doha, Napolitano asked if there is any “domestic political pushback against Netanyahu” for these aggressions, to which Sachs said “no.” While “there is pushback against Netanyahu for many things,” this is not the case for “killing Arabs, unfortunately.”

“I’m sorry to say, but one of the points that is repeated in opinion surveys in Israel is the belief that there are not innocent Arabs nor innocent Palestinians,” the Jewish professor mourned.

These attitudes are “especially targeted at their neighbors” and “specifically at the Palestinians who live among them and are equal in number to the Israelis, yet are being starved to death, murdered, expelled from their homes, or crushed to submission in other ways.”

All of these people, including those in their neighboring countries, “they view not as human beings, but only as instrumental” in achieving their goal of establishing “Greater Israel” that means “complete control over Palestine and parts of other countries in the region,” including Lebanon and Syria.

‘Israel’s mode of behavior is assassinations’

Napolitano noted Israel’s reputation for assassinating their enemies is “so prevalent that Benjamin Netanyahu took to the international airwaves” even before the apprehension of a suspect “to deny that the Israelis had murdered Charlie Kirk.”

Indeed, since October 7, 2023, Israel has assassinated over 270 journalists in Gaza alone while killing 31 more in a strike on Yemen earlier this month. Additionally, Israel has exercised assassination strikes in Lebanon, Qatar, Iran and Yemen, where they killed the nation’s prime minister just last month.

“Israel’s mode of behavior is assassinations,” Sachs observed. And the targets of assassinations are particularly “those who are negotiating.”

“They assassinate the Hamas negotiators. They assassinate the Hezbollah negotiators. They assassinate the Iranian negotiators, or they bomb Iran to stop a round of negotiations,” he recalled. “Israel does not want any diplomacy. Israel wants complete domination and complete submission of the rest.”

“Negotiators get in the way. They might reach an agreement,” he quipped. “Often, they have signaled that they have reached an agreement. That’s when they become real targets for Israeli assassination.”

‘Israel has a decision to make about its survival’

Reliable reports of Palestinian deaths since October 7, 2023 include at least 65,502 killed in Gaza, approximately 20,000 children, with 167,376 injured, and more than 10,000 of these being children who have lost at least one leg. These numbers do not include approximately 14,000 individuals who are missing and presumed dead under the rubble.

According to a rationale presented in a Lancet study last July, one can conservatively estimate total deaths, including indirect fatalities due to causes like starvation, lack of medicine or proper medical care to include 327,510 (144,104 children).

Of these deaths, at least 2,543 have been starving Palestinians killed by Israeli military while trying to access aid packages from the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which began operating on May 26, 2025. Israeli press reports IDF soldiers and officers were ordered to fire upon unarmed crowds in these areas.

Soldiers in the U.S.-backed Israeli army also evidently target different body parts of these civilian victims (head, genitals, legs, chest, etc.) on different days, suggesting they used these suffering civilians for a type of target practice.

“So this is something that we’ll learn more about,” Sachs reflected. “The fighting will stop, and people will enter Gaza. And the scenes and the findings will be more horrific than people apparently understand at this moment.”

“And if this mass starvation occurs, we’ll see the emaciated corpses, (and) Israel will not live that down. It can’t. So Israel really has a decision to make, in my view, about its survival,” he said.

US officials complicit in genocide, will be held responsible

Assessing Israeli and American officials who may be held responsible under international law, he classified Israeli leaders, including President Isaac Herzog, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, and Netanyahu as not only “mass murderers” who are “guilty of the crime of genocide,” but as “completely delusional” insofar as they believe “Israel will somehow stand, given what it’s doing.”

They are also delusional for considering any attack on Israel” as somehow being “anti-Semitism. It has nothing to do with anti-Semitism at all,” the Jewish economist affirmed. “These people are delusional.”

“But what about Marco Rubio? What about President Trump? What about our senior officials?” Sachs asked. Also being “under international law,” they remain “complicit.”

“They are responsible. The borders are going to open up. The fighting is going to stop. We’re going to see what has happened,” the professor warned. “And there’s going to be responsibility and accountability for this.”
