Meghan and Harry to receive major award at glitzy gala event within days | Royal | News

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set accept the Project Healthy Minds’ Humanitarians of the Year Award at the nonprofit’s World Mental Health Day Gala in New York City on October 9. The royal couple will receive the award for their work to make the online world a safer place for families and young people.

Meghan, 44, and Harry, 41, established The Archewell Foundation in 2020 on a mission to “show up, do good” and launched The Parent’s Network at the Project Healthy Minds’ World Mental Health Day Festival in 2023. This initiative sees to support families impacted by the effects of online harm.

The couple have cited their children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, as the inspiration for them wanting to make the online world a safer place.

In a statement, Meghan and Harry said: “Working with families and young people to prioritize safety online has been some of the most meaningful work of our lives.

“As parents ourselves, we have been moved to action by the power of their stories and are honored to support them. We’re proud to be long-time partners of Project Healthy Minds as we work together to shine a light on what remains one of the most pressing issues of our time.”

As well as their appearance on October 9, Meghan and Harry will also attend Project Healthy Minds’ fourth annual World Mental Health Day Festival on October 10.

As reported by PEOPLE, the Lost Screen Memorial that the Archwell Foundation unveiled in New York in April will also be displayed at the festival.

The somber tribute honors children who lost their lives to the harms of social media. Harry and Meghan attended a private vigil at the site earlier this year.

The couple were spotted spending time with first responders at Kevin Costner’s charity concert in California earlier this month – their first joint public appearance in 21 weeks.

The One805LIVE! gig, which took place at the actor’s oceanside estate in Carpinteria, to help raise funds for the local community’s first responders. Meghan briefly joined Harry on stage and was seen beaming as the pair enjoyed their visit.
