A man has tragically died after falling through a skylight at a UK play centre. The builder was rushed to hospital by ambulance but later died of his injuries.
In June, David Linyard was working as a contractor at Play2Day in Martlesham, Suffolk when he fell through the window. He later died of his injuries at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. The play centre was closed for scheduled work at the time of the incident. Play2Day has since issued a statement, giving their respects to Mr Linyard’s family.
A spokesperson said: “We were informed by the family of Mr David Linyard that he had tragically died of injuries sustained in an accident whilst carrying out routine maintenance on the roof of our Play2Day children’s play centre at Martlesham Heath, Ipswich.
“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies continue to be with his friends and family.”
Suffolk Police is continuing to investigate the incident alongside East Suffolk Council and the Health and Safety Executive. The play centre is currently shut for further works but is expected to reopen “very soon”.
As reported by the East Anglian Daily Times, a police spokesperson said: “The man involved sadly died in hospital at a later date. The coroner was notified and the joint investigation involving Suffolk Police, East Suffolk Council and the Health & Safety Executive continues.”
