Why, exactly, have Democrats shut down (sort of) the federal government? Largely because they want the taxpayers to fund unlimited free health care for all illegal immigrants. The Democrats don’t know which way to jump on this one. It is, in fact, the main basis of their objection to the Republican’s “clean” continuing resolution. Sometimes they admit that, sometimes they don’t.
Democratic Party spokesman George Stephanopoulos tried to deny it while interviewing House Speaker Mike Johnson on ABC News. The first half of this video covers that issue, with Stephanopoulos lamely concluding, “You made your point right there.”
But, you may wonder, what other reasons do Democrats have for shutting down the government? What other spending are they holding out for, in addition to unlimited free health care for all illegal aliens?
Louisiana Senator John Kennedy itemized some of the other spending items on behalf of which the Democrats have gone to the wall:

The Democrats are between a rock and a hard place. Their base demands non-stop, far-left insanity, which they know they can’t sell to the American people. (Not least, because it is fundamentally anti-American.) So they have to lie, constantly trying to achieve goals that they are forced ritually to deny.
