Biden FBI spied on nine Republican members of Congress, new document reveals

WASHINGTON, D.C. (LifeSiteNews) — The FBI spied on nine Republican congressmen in 2023 under the Biden administration as part of an investigation into whether there was a “conspiracy” to “overturn” the 2020 presidential election, Senate Republicans revealed on Monday.

A bombshell FBI document obtained by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IO) reveals an FBI special agent looked at cell phone calls and records of eight senators and one U.S. representative as part of its “Arctic Frost” investigation into 2020 election matters.

The document indicates that “tolls records,” meaning cellphone records, were analyzed for the following eight senators and U.S. representative: Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Bill Hagerty of Tennessee, Josh Hawley of Missouri, Dan Sullivan of Alaska, Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, and Rep. Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania.

The senators said they were in the dark as to what pretext the FBI used to spy on them.

Almost all of these congressmen voted to object to electoral counts from states for the 2020 presidential election or indicated they would before changing their mind following the breaching of the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Hawley and Tuberville voted to object to the electoral counts from both Arizona and Pennsylvania, and Lummis voted to object to the Pennsylvania results.

While a long list of House Republicans voted to object to certifying Biden as president, a small minority of Republican senators voted to object to his certification.

Rep. Kelly distinguished himself by filing a lawsuit to invalidate all mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania from the 2020 presidential election.

The document revealing the FBI’s spying on the senators was discovered after an oversight request from Senator Grassley about Arctic Frost and was shared with Senate Republicans in a private Monday meeting with FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, the Washington Times reported.

Grassley denounced what was uncovered as “disturbing and outrageous political conduct” and decried the entire Arctic Frost operation as “arguably worse than Watergate.”

“This is major corruption that is being revealed inside the Obama and Biden Department of Justice and FBI,” said Sen. Johnson, who has been investigating Arctic Frost. “This doesn’t surprise me, but it should shock every American of what the Biden administration has done.”

Arctic Frost was a joint investigation launched in April 2022 involving the FBI, DOJ Office of Inspector General (OIG), U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and National Archives and Records Administration (OIG). Special Counsel Jack Smith took over the project in November 2022.

While Arctic Frost reportedly focused on looking into an alleged “conspiracy” to “overturn” the 2020 presidential election – terms often used to describe efforts to determine the legitimacy of the hotly contested election – its scope widened to investigate mainstream Republican organizations for unclear reasons.

“Some examples of the groups the Wray FBI sought to place under political investigation included the Republican National Committee, Republican Attorneys General Association and Trump political groups. In total, 92 Republican targets, including Republican groups and Republican-linked individuals, were placed under the investigative scope of Arctic Frost,” Senator Grassley said.

“On that political list was one of Charlie Kirk’s groups, Turning Point USA,” he continued. “In other words, Arctic Frost wasn’t just a case to politically investigate Trump. It was the vehicle by which partisan FBI agents and DOJ prosecutors could achieve their partisan ends and improperly investigate the entire Republican political apparatus.”

Grassley suggested the officials involved need to be fired.

“If heads don’t roll in this town, nothing changes,” he told reporters.
