Shock poll from the New York Times,

Voters Favor Deporting Those in U.S. Illegally, but Say Trump Has Gone Too Far.

Obviously, the shock rests in the former, not the latter statement. In a poll that otherwise skews against Trump in every other respect, the Times found that, during Trump 2.0,

In that time, the share of registered voters who favor deporting immigrants living in the country illegally — 54 percent — has remained unchanged.

More than 90 percent of Republicans, 52 percent of independents and nearly 20 percent of Democrats continue to broadly support the idea of deporting those here illegally.

Amazing: one in five Democrats approve deporting those here illegally. More detail, from all respondents,

More specifically, 51 percent said they thought the government was deporting mostly people who “should be deported,” while 42 percent said the government was deporting the wrong people.

As for those pesky methods, the Times asked the question,

Do you think Donald Trump’s actions on immigration enforcement have gone too far?

A bare majority, 51 percent, agreed. Keep in mind that the Times poll, overall, found 54 percent disapproval of Trump.

You will be surprised to learn that The Atlantic thinks that Trump hasn’t moved quickly enough on deportations. No, really. They write,

As Money Rushed In, ICE’s Rapid Expansion Stalled Out.

Having read the entire piece, I could not tell you what the point was. But some good news from the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS),

Why the Decline in the Foreign-Born in the Monthly Household Survey in 2025 Is Very Likely Real

Some 2.2 million foreign born residents have left America in 2025.

Everything that rises must converge.
