Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is intent on digging the hole deeper when it comes to his shutdown.
He made a damning admission about his government shutdown, claiming, “Every day it gets better for us.”
So he seems to think that, politically, the Dems are in a good position, holding out, not caring how the shutdown might hurt Americans, including denying pay to our military service members, while Schumer still gets his.
He got ripped to shreds, and justifiably so, by Republicans, including by President Donald Trump.

Yet, bizarrely, on Thursday, he ranted on the floor of the Senate, trying to blame House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), saying that people would “die” if the Republicans didn’t cave to the Democrats.

“Hear that, Mr. Speaker, that’s [sic] your constituents. Good Americans in your own state…will die. All because the Speaker chose to keep the House on vacation rather than come to work, negotiate with Democrats to fix this healthcare crisis…Shameful.”
How many times have we heard this narrative from Democrats? People will die if you don’t do what Democrats want. No one believes what you say anymore. Indeed, everyone would be worse off if they did cave to the Democrats.
Meanwhile, people are suffering because Schumer and the Democrats won’t end his shutdown. He’s trying to blame Speaker Johnson. But Johnson and the House Republicans passed the clean CR. It isn’t held up in the House anymore – it’s being held up in the Senate by Chuck and his Democrats. What he’s saying here doesn’t even make any sense.
At this point, he’s like House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY)–just repeating talking points, whether they make any sense or not–even if they fly in the face of his own words. I thought “every day things were getting better,” Chuck? Make up your mind, which is it? He isn’t even being logical in his own words. Looks like the stress of his own shutdown is getting to him.

The nerve of him to attack Johnson over healthcare, when the Democrats want healthcare for illegal aliens. The Democrats are the ones putting Americans at risk with such radical policies. The longer Schumer tries to hold out and fight, the more you know how important illegal aliens are to him. Democrats don’t care about the American people who died because of illegal aliens.
Their problem is they can’t explain with facts and reason why their position is better for Americans, because it isn’t. So they’re stuck shoveling the same old, warmed-over stuff that they’ve been dishing up for years. I don’t think people are buying what Schumer’s selling here.
There’s nothing to negotiate. It’s a clean CR. Pass it, or you, the Democrats, continue to own all the consequences. You can’t blame anyone else.
Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
