Democrats are in a hole with the Schumer Shutdown.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) can’t seem to decide what talking point to pull out. First, he claimed that “every day” was getting “better” for them with the shutdown.

Then, after he got backlash on that, suddenly, he’s complaining that workers are not getting paid. But he’s the one holding up the vote.
House Republicans are getting paid and not working
and they’re forcing federal workers to work and not get paid.
— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) October 9, 2025
He says House Republicans are getting paid – but all members of Congress who aren’t opting out are getting paid, including him. And the House Republicans have all voted to keep the government open, so this doesn’t even make sense. Schumer is just pushing nonsense. It’s on him and his fellow Democratic senators who haven’t passed the clean Continuing Resolution in the Senate.
Their leftist base is urging them to keep it going. The Indivisible group said they will be having a rally on Oct. 18, and will be cheering Democrats on or “calling for new leadership [if they don’t hold out].” It clearly shows the Democrats are being led around by the nose by their leftist wing.
In the meantime, the Democrats have said they’re willing to hold out, according to CNN. Their headline blared that “even missed paychecks for US troops wouldn’t be enough to end shutdown alone.”
Some are concerned about that tactic (as they should be).
Inside the party, anxiety is rising among vulnerable Democrats about active-duty military service members missing a paycheck on October 15 — something that hasn’t happened on a large scale in modern times. [….]
But, so far, they’re holding out because they think they have “public perception.” I don’t think they do. But here’s the disgusting statement they made about how long they would hold out.
Another senior Democratic aide said as long as public perception is in their favor, the party will not concede short of “planes falling out of the sky.”
That immediately was decimated by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who called it “one of the most disgusting statements I’ve ever read.”
🚨Wow.
Democrats are now saying that unless “planes are falling out of the sky” because of air traffic controller staffing shortages — they will not end their government shutdown.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy also lambasted that comment from Democrats.
Just when you think Democrats can’t go any lower. This is despicable.
The safety of our skies isn’t a game. Stop holding our controllers’ paychecks hostage! https://t.co/jJkHWlJAwq
— Secretary Sean Duffy (@SecDuffy) October 10, 2025
Air traffic controllers are considered essential employees, so they have to work. However, Duffy indicated some were not coming in because of the shutdown, which may explain the shortages that have also resulted in traffic delays.
But Democrats are completely clueless about how despicable and petty they are coming across now.
Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
