From Iowa Public Radio,
Jackie Norris ends Senate run in wake of former Des Moines superintendent’s ICE arrest.
Norris is the chair of the school board that hired said illegal alien, Ian Roberts of Guyana. IPR reports,
Des Moines School Board Chair Jackie Norris is ending her run for the Democratic nomination in next year’s U.S. Senate race in Iowa.
The reason?
But the arrest of former Superintendent Ian Roberts has changed her plans.
I can name a few jurisdictions in America where hiring an illegal alien, and an accused felon, to a top job would be a resume enhancer to an up-and-coming Democratic politician. But not Iowa, it would seem.
IPR reports that Norris will be busy for the foreseeable future dealing with the cleanup of the Roberts case, with lawsuits, investigations, etc.
She’s not alone. From ABC News,
ICE arrests suburban Chicago police officer accused of being in the US illegally
Say it ain’t so! ABC reports,
Radule Bojovic, a native of Montenegro, was working as a sworn officer for the Hanover Park Police Department, according to DHS.
He was “encountered during a targeted enforcement action” as part of “Operation Midway Blitz,” a surge of immigration enforcement in Illinois that began last month,
It seems that Officer Bojovic overstayed a tourist visa a decade ago and never went home. Oh, and there’s this,
The department [DHS] also noted it is a felony for someone in the U.S. illegally to carry a firearm.
That’s the same crime “Dr.” Ian Roberts is accused of, back in Iowa. Of course, Roberts isn’t a cop, he’s not required to carry a firearm as a condition of his employment. For him, it’s more of a hobby.
Speaking of Roberts, from Fox-45 (Baltimore),
Watchdog uncovers Ian Roberts’ Maryland voter registration application, says it raises red flags
I should say so! Roberts is not now, nor has he ever been, a U.S. citizen, so he had no business registering to vote.
After filing a public records request with Prince George’s County — where Roberts registered — Jones uncovered not one, but two voter registration applications. One from 2011, the other 2016. On both, Roberts clearly signed under penalty of perjury that he was eligible to vote. But one key section remains unclear: his answer to ‘Are you a U.S. citizen?’ was redacted.
Redacted? Only two answers are possible: either Roberts committed perjury, or the state of Maryland knowingly registered a noncitizen to vote, or both.
As it happens, I testified earlier this week before the Minnesota House of Representatives’ Fraud Prevention committee on the very subject of voter registration fraud. At the Tuesday hearing, the star witness was the state’s chief elections officer, Secretary of State Steve Simon.
Sec. Simon was asked the question, could an illegal alien use an official state drivers license or ID card to register and vote? Of course, the answer is “yes” because there are zero safeguards in place. Almost all of state government is operated on the honor system.
Simon pointed to similar “under penalty of perjury” language in the Minnesota voter application. The implication is that no illegal alien would never commit a crime like perjury.
Perish the thought.
