Barron Trump was a mere 10 years old when he first moved into the White House, growing up under the public eye.

The teenager, who is the youngest child of Donald Trump, has often accompanied his parents on official trips and is no stranger to the limelight, having appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show at just two months old.

When his father clinched the presidency in 2016, Barron remained at Trump Tower in New York with his mum, Melania, so he could finish his school year with his mates.

When he contracted Covid, Melania revealed the intensity of her concern for the youngster, saying: “My fear came true when he was tested again and it came up positive. Luckily he is a strong teenager and exhibited no symptoms.”

The First Lady of the United States said this experience had brought them closer together, adding: “In one way I was glad the three of us went through this at the same time so we could take care of one another and spend time together. He has since tested negative.”

Barron is Melania’s only child. The 55-year-old model met husband, Donald, at a gathering in 1998, with the couple marrying in 2005 and welcoming their son a year later.

Nevertheless, rumours have surfaced the First Lady is “counting the the seconds” until she could divorce the President.

The former model has rejected the claims, which were made by her ex-aide, Omarosa Manigault Newman. Newman claimed the couple’s marriage was essentially over, saying, “If Melania were to try to pull the ultimate humiliation and leave while he’s in office, he would find a way to punish her.”

Body language expert and psychologist, Bruce Durham, spoke about how Melania might be preparing for a fresh chapter in her life.

Even during the initial stages of their romance, Donald consistently positions himself as the focal point of any photograph.

Durham observed: “It is always about him taking the main part in the play and all eyes being on him while Melania is displaying a stance that could be associated with a model, it’s her confidence that is empowering her to do this.”

Nevertheless, there are telling indicators in numerous photographs of Trump and his spouse that suggest the president’s self-assurance during the early period of their romance is simply a veneer.

Durham, who regularly works with leading companies to improve their performance, explained: “Indeed, the partial smile on Donald’s face and the slight squint in the eye offers an insight into a version of the president that isn’t as confident as he seems, even if just for that moment.”

Yet, by the time the duo had reached the White House, Trump was determined to be the dominant force in the marriage.

Shift in Melania’s conduct

Durham analysed: “Contrast this to more recent photos where Donald is always leading, his hand is always in the ‘power’ position, and he has sometimes actually moved Melania out of the way to ‘set the scene’ for him to be centre stage – we see a much more controlling version of the president.”

Following the closure of polling stations across America, Bruce also noted a change in Melania’s behaviour.

He observed: “After the votes were coming in and Donald spoke on stage, it was Melania who walked off first, and it was Melania who took her hand away from Donald.

“For four years we have seen Donald leading their actions via his body language control behaviours… the tides could be changing.

“Melania has given us glimpses of when she wants to, she can become the alpha one in the relationship. It will be very interesting to see how losing the presidency will impact the power play of body language between the two moving forward.”

Sympathy for Barron

However, one individual often overlooked in numerous snapshots of the Trump’s union – Barron. Bruce remarked: “I think it is quite sad and sweet that Barron is looking at the floor in both photos.

“It must be hard for any young adult to be in that position – but again, with Donald being so focused on ‘himself’ maybe he hasn’t got time for ‘others’ – including helping his son with his confidence levels in front of the cameras.

“It’s a bit like this with his powerhand over Melania, directing her to go where he demands, almost like pulling a helpless puppy along on a lead.”

On April 12, 2021, a Knoxville police officer shot and killed an African American male student in a bathroom at Austin-East High School. The incident caused social unrest, and community members began demanding transparency about the shooting, including the release of the officer’s body camera video. On the evening of April 19, 2021, the Defendant and a group of protestors entered the Knoxville City-County Building during a Knox County Commission meeting. The Defendant activated the siren on a bullhorn and spoke through the bullhorn to demand release of the video. Uniformed police officers quickly escorted her and six other individuals out of the building and arrested them for disrupting the meeting. The court upheld defendants’ conviction for “disrupting a lawful meeting,” defined as “with the intent to prevent [a] gathering, … substantially obstruct[ing] or interfere[ing] with the meeting, procession, or gathering by physical action or verbal utterance.” Taken in the light most favorable to the State, the evidence shows that the Defendant posted on Facebook the day before the meeting and the day of the meeting that the protestors were going to “shut down” the meeting. During the meeting, the Defendant used a bullhorn to activate a siren for approximately twenty seconds. Witnesses at trial described the siren as “loud,” “high-pitched,” and “alarming.” Commissioner Jay called for “Officers,” and the Defendant stated through the bullhorn, “Knox County Commission, your meeting is over.” Commissioner Jay tried to bring the meeting back into order by banging his gavel, but the Defendant continued speaking through the bullhorn. Even when officers grabbed her and began escorting her out of the Large Assembly Room, she continued to disrupt the meeting by yelling for the officers to take their hands off her and by repeatedly calling them “murderers.” Commissioner Jay called a ten-minute recess during the incident, telling the jury that it was “virtually impossible” to continue the meeting during the Defendant’s disruption. The Defendant herself testified that the purpose of attending the meeting was to disrupt the Commission’s agenda and to force the Commission to prioritize its discussion on the school shooting. Although the duration of the disruption was about ninety seconds, the jury was able to view multiple videos of the incident and concluded that the Defendant substantially obstructed or interfered with the meeting. The evidence is sufficient to support the Defendant’s conviction. Defendant also claimed the statute was “unconstitutionally vague as applied to her because the statute does not state that it includes government meetings,” but the appellate court concluded that she had waived the argument by not raising it adequately below. Sean F. McDermott, Molly T. Martin, and Franklin Ammons, Assistant District Attorneys General, represent the state.
