The U.S. Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary, Kristi Noem, paid a visit to the North Star State yesterday.
In many respects, Minnesota is ground zero for the illegal immigration crisis, even though the big cities (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago) get all of the headlines. It’s no surprise that Operation Twin Shield was launched in the Twin Cities late last month.
The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported on the Noem visit,
Homeland Security secretary Kristi Noem touts immigration enforcement in Twin Cities appearance.
Details from the Star Tribune,
She said federal immigration agents in Minnesota have arrested over 4,300 people since January, highlighting arrests of a Mexican national accused of child sexual assault and a Salvadoran charged with human trafficking.
Sec. Noem, the former South Dakota governor, came to deliver the message that help is on the way, From the University of Minnesota student newspaper, Minnesota Daily,
Noem added that dozens of agents will be coming to field offices in the region. There are USCIS field offices in both Minneapolis and St. Paul.
“If you’re here illegally, go home,” Noem said in her address.
You would think that a sitting cabinet secretary visiting a fly-over state to deliver a serious policy message would be news, in and of itself. Think again. This is Trump 2.0, so some in the legacy media had to make the narrative about the visit all about the counter-narrative. An example from MPR News,

In other news, trust in media sits at an all-time-low.
