(AWE PR) — Filmmakers are urging the lay faithful and curious alike to turn out to movie theaters to see TRIUMPH OVER EVIL: BATTLE OF THE EXORCISTS, the new docudrama that aims to show what a real exorcism is and to help people better understand the tactics of Satan.
Arriving in U.S. theaters tomorrow October 30 for one night only, a Fathom Entertainment and Goya Producciones release, this is the first authoritative documentary to delve into the various aspects of demonic possession and exorcism while showcasing the escalation and significance as well as the role of Catholic priesthood and Mary, the Mother of God, in the battle against evil. Tickets are on sale now at Fathom Entertainment, with select theaters also offering the docudrama in Spanish. Watch the official trailer here.
The powerful docudrama was the idea of a former atheist and Italian film director Giovanni Ziberna and his wife Valeria Baldan, the directors and founders of Sine Sole Cinema, whose conversion story after years of being anti-Catholic makes this release even more remarkable.
“This is not a horror film,” said Giovanni Ziberna, director of TRIUMPH OVER EVIL. “The goal is to bring light and understanding, not fear and superstition.”
Ziberna and his wife experienced transformative conversions that helped them to better understand God, Satan and spiritual battle that led them into the Roman Catholic Church and to create a documentary on exorcism.
Ziberna was invited to assist in the ministry of exorcism, where he served as a first hand witness. This experience further proved the reality of this ministry that contradicted everything previously depicted by Hollywood. The movie includes never-before-seen footage of world renowned exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth which was filmed in 2012 before he passed away. Amorth provided a blessing over this film and encouraged the production.
“Growing up I did everything not to seek him in the Church, and an openly anti-Catholic sentiment grew within me,” said Ziberna. “An exorcism is actually a deeply spiritual place of great light, where the Lord triumphs over darkness. And when you are in God’s grace and you entrust yourself to the Lord, you don’t have fear of the devil. It is actually the devil who fears those who rely on God.”
Under the patronage and approval of the International Association of Exorcists, the film is the only documentary on the topic approved by the Vatican. TRIUMPH OVER EVIL features several experts including never-before-seen commentary from the world-renowned Vatican exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth. As the only feature documentary on exorcism to receive official approval from the International Association of Exorcists (I.A.E.)—a prominent pontifical association—the film offers an important look inside the spiritual battle faced by all God’s sons and daughters and His triumph over evil.
“The key takeaway of this film is to be vigilant about one’s own soul and to be in a state of grace and to rely on faith and on the Church; and to use all the holy methods of sacred tradition to stay in grace, seek forgiveness, and walk the right path,” said Ziberna. “This movie tells the greatness and majesty of God, who comes to save and free us.”
After the docudrama a bonus feature takes you behind the scenes with U.S. exorcists and experts who describe in-depth how people can protect themselves from evil, Mary’s role in the battle against Satan and his demons, and how to remain in a state of grace. Produced by Oscar Delgado, co-founder of Candelaria Productions Inc., the bonus presentation aims to further elaborate on the battle against evil.
“We are calling on the entire Church to join the battle, not shrink back from it,” said Oscar Delgado. “Many people have no clue that Satan and his demons are actively targeting the baptized, and after people see the film, they will have a lot of questions. Look around at the world in which we live and you can see that the devil isn’t hiding anymore. People need tools and weapons of faith to fight back with Jesus and his angels and saints. Our team wants everyone to know how to pick up the sword of the Holy Spirit and fight to win with Jesus Christ. After the movie plays, the bonus presentation features leaders from the United States who will share teaching and testimony on screen to equip, inspire, and lead people to their victory.”
U.S. leaders featured in the bonus presentation include: Fr. Robert-Joel Cruz, an exorcist and member of the International Association of Exorcists; Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, Provincial Superior of the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception in the U.S. and Argentina; Monsignor Stephen Rossetti, American Catholic priest and author of the Diary of an American Exorcist; Kathleen Beckman, co-founder of the Foundation of Prayer for Priests, exorcism auxiliary, and author of the best-selling book A Family Guide to Spiritual Warfare (Sophia Press).
Filmmakers urge the U.S. audience to see this film and to see it together, emphasizing that the movie is not meant to bring fear or horror, rather information and armor against the evil that persistently aims to destroy God’s children and wreak havoc in the world.
“Halloween culture in the U.S. that is celebrated with signs and symbols of witches and the demonic is more openly accepted by today’s Christians,” said Delgado. “It’s time for the Church to give rightful acknowledgement to God and His power during this hallowed season dedicated to the angels and saints and use this film as an opportunity to instruct the faithful on how to truly be the Church militant. Will you join the battle?”
