Prince William was welcomed to Brazil at the top of the iconic landmark, Sugarloaf Mountain.
Having arrived in Rio de Janeiro on a commercial flight this morning, William took a cable car up to the peak, where he was received by the city’s Mayor, his wife and daughter, as well as the vice mayor and his wife.
Mayor Eduardo Paes then walked the prince over to the helipad, which offers a bird’s-eye view of the city, and the Christ the Redeemer statue atop Corcovado Mountain.
After soaking up the glorious views in brilliant sunshine, William was presented with the keys to the city by the Mayor.
They posed for photos in the middle of the helipad before heading back outside the cable car entrance, where he spent 10 minutes greeting cheering members of the public.
