Amid a sea of cowards in Europe and elsewhere, President Donald Trump has become the first major world leader to recognize the ongoing genocide in Nigeria.

As RedState reported, in a social media post, he called the situation an “existential threat” to Christians in the region and designated the African nation a “country of particular concern.” That alone isn’t very meaningful because it only pushes diplomatic lines. In a later post, though, he spoke more directly, threatening to go in “guns-a-blazing” to deal with the Islamic terrorists committing these atrocities.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has responded to Trump’s postings. In doing so, he left no doubt that the use of force is on the table. Not only that, it seems like such a move is being actively planned if the status quo doesn’t change and change quickly.
Yes sir.
The killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria — and anywhere — must end immediately. The Department of War is preparing for action. Either the Nigerian Government protects Christians, or we will kill the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities. pic.twitter.com/C0v9RHGoS1

The best case here is that the Nigerian government steps up and takes action so that major interventions aren’t necessary. Yes, you could use special forces, intelligence assets, and drones to exact a toll on these Islamists, at least as a quick reaction to stop imminent slaughter. But while that might be part of the short-term solution, without Nigeria playing ball and doing the work on the ground, there’s little path to protect these Christians from being targeted. Perhaps diplomatic pressure can lead there. At least, I pray it can.

For context, over the course of the last decade, somewhere approaching 100,000 Christians have been slaughtered by Boko Harem and other Muslim groups in Nigeria alone. For the most part, the world has been silent. While many European leaders have repeatedly chastised Israel for fighting Hamas in Gaza, citing civilian deaths, they’ve been nowhere to be found regarding what’s happening in Nigeria, Sudan, Congo, Syria, and elsewhere. Christian persecution is exploding across the globe, but because the victims aren’t convenient for the narrative, nor are the attackers, it is largely ignored.
In that sense, their hypocrisy gives the game away. The obsession with manufacturing a genocide narrative in Gaza, which was never factual, was purely a political ploy meant to stir anarchy in Western countries and feed their own antisemitism. If they actually cared about the slaughter of innocents, they’d be in the streets protesting these terrorists and the Nigerian government’s inaction. But again, they don’t care because that would mean telling the truth about Islam and admitting that Christians are not the great oppressors the left-wing desperately needs them to be.
