Police have descended on London Bridge station this evening as passengers reported being evacuated from the platforms.
While the nature of what has occurred remains unclear, Thameslink confirmed police were at the station responding to an incident.
“The police are dealing an incident at London Bridge. This has recently happened and we are working on gathering more information for you. Updates will follow below,” Thameslink said.
Commuters quickly took to social media to share their confusion, with one reporting on X: “Thameslink train was searched by armed police and sniffer dogs but they won’t tell us anything (on the train)”
Another questioned: “Why is everyone being evacuated from platforms 4/5 on London Bridge??”
“Something going on at London Bridge. Lots of police and people leaving in hurry from platform 6/7,” a third wrote.
Amid the speculation, Southern Rail issued the statement: “The police have confirmed that it is safe to travel through London Bridge. Some service changes have been put in place which means your train may no longer call at your destination.”
National Rail has also said that Thameslink services at London Bridge will be delayed until 8pm.
