Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom attempted to come for the White House and President Donald Trump, trumpeting the integrity of his state’s elections, and got hit with some embarrassing truths.
It started on Tuesday with a Truth Social post from President Trump about the initiative on the ballot in CA, Proposition 50, which Newsom has made his pet project, pushing for its passage that would terminate the state’s independent redistricting commission, allegedly, temporarily.
If it passes, the Democrat-run state would be able to break apart predominantly Republican Congressional districts to get five more seats in Congress, further gerrymandering a state that has already been altered to benefit Democrats.

During a White House Press Briefing on Tuesday, a reporter asked White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt about what Trump meant and what “evidence” he had that the CA election was “rigged.”
Reporter: “Does the White House still plan to issue an executive order ending mail-in voting and what legal authority do you have to do that?”

“The White House is working on an executive order to strengthen our elections in this country,” Leavitt said. “And to ensure that there cannot be blatant fraud, as we’ve seen in California with their universal mail-in voting system. It’s absolutely true that there’s fraud in California’s elections. It’s just a fact.”
The reporter pushed back and Leavitt said that the fact the state has a “universal mail-in voting system” which is “ripe for fraud.”
“If you want to deny that, I’m happy to provide all the evidence,” she added, as the reporter pressed her again what she meant. “Fraudulent ballots that are being mailed in, in the names of other people, the names of illegal aliens who shouldn’t be voting.”
Newsom then thought it was a good idea to enter the chat and attack the White House. He wrote, “They cheat and lie because they know they are going to lose.”
California has among the WORST laws for securing elections in the entire nation.

Leavitt reacted to his post and schooled the failed governor in how the state has the “worst laws for securing elections in the entire nation.” She then dropped the facts.
“California doesn’t require voters to show photo ID before casting a ballot – despite nearly 90% of Americans supporting photo ID laws,” the press secretary wrote. “California uses universal mail-in-balloting, which we know is extremely vulnerable to fraud and abuse. In the 2024 election alone, California mailed nearly 10 million mail-in ballots that were never returned.”
“The bipartisan Carter-Baker Commission in 2005 found: ‘absentee ballots remain the largest source of potential voter fraud’ and ‘vote by mail is . . . likely to increase the risks of fraud,'” she added. “San Francisco even allows non-citizens to vote in local elections, which creates a high risk of fraud in federal elections.”
“California reported 2,178,551 duplicate registrations in the 2024 election cycle – 15.6% of total registered voters – and seven counties completely failed to provide data on duplicate registrations,” Leavitt continued. “California only removed 378,349 registered voters for death (11.9%), which was well below the national average. Now stop tweeting at me and do your job, @GavinNewsom!”
I am not sure I can say it any better than that. The White House Press Secretary nailed it. If you live in California, you have every right and should demand more from your governor to secure the integrity of your vote.
