Dems Already in Panic Mode As GOP Plans to Make Mamdani Face of Their Party Revealed – RedState

It’s near impossible to sugarcoat what happened here in New York last night. The city that never sleeps fell asleep at the wheel, electing a democratic socialist (communist), pro-“seizing the means of production”, anti-law enforcement, vile, American-loathing, pro-terror, radical Muslim, as its mayor.

And they did so just shy of a quarter of a century after the worst terrorist attack on American soil.

Many of us outside the fanatical left-wing mindhive in the city are looking at the election results, convinced that Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s ascension is a suicidal blow to the Empire City.

That said, Republicans have no choice but to pick up the shattered pieces from last night’s election results and somehow find a silver lining. That is, to make the sacrifice of New York City (a queen’s sacrifice in chess) into a victory for the nation as a whole.

The work has already begun. No time for sulking. There’s too much at stake.

House Republicans have already produced digital ads set to run across dozens of battleground districts, pointing to the “socialist mayor” in NYC, labeling him the “future” of the Democrat party and warning voters, “your city could be next.”

Escape From New York: Nearly a Million May Flee If Mamdani Wins

Your city could be next.

Mamdani won’t be tangentially on the ballot solely in the House either, where you tend to get more fringe candidates somehow finding their way into the once respected halls of Congress.

Politico reports that Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) sent out donor letters noting that the fight against socialism will be “shaping every major Senate Democrat primary in 2026.”

This messaging was a plan that had been in the works long before Tuesday night, as poll after poll indicated that Mamdani would be the victor in the New York City mayoral race. But it’s good to see the GOP not wasting any time here.

Also good to see? The Democrats know what they have wrought here, and they are terrified.

“Some national Democrats are sounding alarms about the coming GOP onslaught,” Politico writes, referencing the battering their candidates will face in questioning whether or not they share common cause with the radical mayor.

Indeed, a “centrist-left” group called Third Way has already issued a memo to Democrats that Mamdani is “politically toxic” and his socialist policies “are deeply unpopular in the red and purple places Democrats must win” in 2026.

The group points out that, as tragic as the results in New York City were, Mamdani could have only won in an area that is a clear-cut deep blue outlier. Tying his policies to more mainstream congressional races will no doubt drag down any Democrat candidate trying to portray themselves as being distanced from the fringe extremists in their party.

Third Way also reveals the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), which Mamdani has failed to repudiate, is an “extreme” group and “a Republican ad maker’s dream.”

Just a glance at the DSA platform makes clear how politically toxic it would be to any voter not deeply in the sway of socialist ideology. It includes, among many other things, “free[ing] all people from involuntary confinement” (i.e., closing all prisons and releasing ALL prisoners), “disarm[ing] law enforcement officers,” “abolish[ing] the U.S. Senate,” and “the nationalization of businesses.” Republicans used the “defund the police” slogan to win seats up and down the ballot in 2020 and beyond, and the DSA agenda could prove far more politically lethal.

Mamdani, helpfully, delivered a victory speech last night in which he, safely declared the victor, proudly proclaimed his affiliation with the group.

“I am young, despite my best efforts to grow older. I am Muslim. I am a democratic socialist. And most damning of all, I refuse to apologize for any of this,” he boasted.

Any candidate who refuses to denounce or distance themselves from the new mayor will have the albatross of “democratic socialist” hanging from their neck. As they should.

Will it work? Will mention of Mamdani’s name in a midwestern district resonate? It will undoubtedly come into play at some level. A recent National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) poll shows that Mamdani has 81 percent name recognition in 46 battleground districts across the country.

He’s almost equally as well-known as House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-8).

Politico suggests that Mamdani is “a glaring distraction in a midterm that would otherwise be a referendum on the party in power.”

While the party in power historically loses seats in the first midterm elections, Mamdani’s rise as the true face of the Democrat party may alter the calculus.

New York City has fallen; it’s now up to Republicans to pick up the sword and ensure the once-great city’s sacrifice results in a midterm resurgence for their party. For the country.

Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
