By far the biggest disappointment for me last night was the victory by Democrat Jay Jones in the race for Attorney General of Viriginia.

You will recall that Jones had previously threatened to kill a Republican opponent and wished death upon his family.

From the New York Post,

Democrat Jay Jones unseats Virginia GOP attorney general Jason Miyares despite text scandal

“Text scandal”

Polls showed Jones and Miyares neck-and-neck ahead of election day, with the Democrat recovering from a drop in support after the emergence of his August 2022 comments fantasizing about the death of a Republican lawmaker and his family, in which he said that “only when people feel pain personally do they move on policy.”

“Three people, two bullets,” Jones messaged GOP Del. Carrie Coyner in reference to then-Republican House Speaker Todd Gilbert. “Gilbert, hitler, and pol pot [sic].”

“Gilbert gets two bullets to the head,” Jones wrote.

In the end, 1,753,000 voters opted for the pro-murder Democrat.

We are always being told to reach across the aisle, find compromise, negotiate, look for the middle ground, be bipartisan, nobody gets everything that they want.

But what’s the natural compromise position reconciling the gap between “you and your family must die” and “slightly lower marginal tax rates?

Is it, “kill me but let my child live a few more days”?

I firmly believe that most voters see politics as merely a difference of degree but not kind. “All parties are the same,” “the uniparty,” etc.

The Post quotes Jones as saying.

Like all people, I’ve sent text messages that I regret and I believe that violent rhetoric has no place in our politics.

Jones condemns the words, but not the deeds.

Politico noted a few days ago,

Jay Jones is back in the Democratic fold amid texting scandal

As Politico reports, the now-governor-elect,

Spanberger criticized those text messages, but like most other prominent Democrats in the state and nationally, did not call on him to drop out.

Speakers who appeared after Jones, including Democratic Rep. Bobby Scott, state Sen. Lamont Bagby and Sen. Tim Kaine all urged voters to vote for Jones on Tuesday.

Politico also calls it a “text scandal” but does write about,

the text messages from Jones, who in 2022 sent to a colleague messages fantasizing about shooting then-House Speaker of Virginia Todd Gilbert, a Republican.

Having received a clear majority of the votes, and gained the support of all prominent Democrats, how could Jones not see yesterday’s results as a mandate to kill all Republicans? Jones will be the state’s top law “enforcement” officer in a Commonwealth where Democrats will hold a total monopoly on all power, including the state police and all courts.

In Jones’ view, I must not be a human being because I have never sent a text wishing on the death of another. Not once, not ever.

Yet Jones does not see me as a human being because I am a Republican. Jones’ wishes death on my progeny because I am a Republican.

Democrats, and a majority of voters, appear entirely comfortable will those who call for the death of me and mine.

This is not a policy disagreement; this is not a matter of degree.

I no longer see a way out. Sorry for the blackpill.
