Dave McCormick Puts Out Cheeky Video Inviting NYers Fleeing Mamdani, Bad Football to Settle in PA – RedState

If ever there was a time for Republicans to have fun at the expense of their political opponents, it’s right now. Not only is the Democrat Party saddled with the sad sack duo of Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries – New Yorkers both – as its leaders, they’ve also gone all-in on socialist wunderkind Zohran Mamdani (or, as President Trump calls him, “Mamdani the Commie”).

The jokes, as the saying goes, write themselves.

One GOP senator, Dave McCormick of Pennsylvania, decided to take advantage of today’s political environment to poke fun at New York and its many disasters, including Mamdani and its football teams (speaking of sad sack duos), and inviting freedom-loving New Yorkers to “head west on I-80” over to Pennsylvania.

McCormick does a pretty good hard sell, highlighting how the Keystone State is winning in the areas of shipbuilding, AI, and, well, football.

Are you worried about your future in New York? Because I have just the place for you, Pennsylvania, where America was born. We’ve got mountains, winning football teams, world-class universities, and no one is gonna make you feel unwelcome for loving America, loving freedom, and loving your God.

We’re rebuilding steel, innovating life sciences, leading the AI revolution, and creating tens of thousands of jobs in shipbuilding, energy, and AI infrastructure.

Forget about the high taxes, the socialists, the losing football teams. If you’re looking for a change of scenery, all you have to do is head west on I-80. The Keystone State is calling. Come on down!

McCormick isn’t the first Republican to invite asylum seekers to find refuge in their states. Florida has thrown open its doors to businesses fleeing Wall Street, enticing them to set up shop instead in Boca Raton. And Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood put out the welcome mat on election night, saying, “If you’re an NYC resident or a great NYPD officer unhappy with the results of tonight’s Mayoral election, let me be the first to invite you into the welcoming arms of Volusia County.”

But, not everyone is keep to have the refugees settle in their red areas. Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Republican, anticipated a Mamdani win and issued a dire warning ahead of the election: “After the polls close tomorrow night, I will impose a 100% tariff on anyone moving to Texas from NYC.”

Let’s just hope Sen. McCormick has enlisted Scott Presler to welcome fleeing New Yorkers with a pledge to vote Republican in Pennsylvania, a state President Trump won in 2024 by less than 2 percent.

Despite the cheeky nature of McCormick’s video, he does raise some good points. New Yorkers likely have no idea the ramifications of last week’s vote. Religious freedom, for Jews especially, could take a hit with Mamdani at the helm. Businesses will be thought of as slush funds to bankroll things like free buses and child care. There’s nothing forward-looking about the new mayor’s socialist agenda.

On a different not, how great an addition has Dave McCormick been to the GOP bench? He’s forged a close relationship with his maverick Democrat colleague, Sen. John Fetterman, and the two seem genuinely interested in making Pennsylvania a better place to run a business and raise a family. Quite the opposite of Schumer and Jeffries.

Editor’s Note: After more than 40 days of screwing Americans, a few Dems have finally caved. The Schumer Shutdown was never about principle—just inflicting pain for political points.
