President Trump signed the revised continuing resolution, a short-term spending bill officially known as the “Continuing Appropriations, Agriculture (Ag), Legislative Branch, Military Construction (Milcon) and Veterans Affairs (VA), and Extensions Act, 2026,” on Wednesday evening, which will fund the federal government through January 2026, ending the Schumer Shutdown once and for all.
RedState covered the House passing it in a final vote earlier on Wednesday, with the help of a healthy cadre from the other side of the aisle, including Rep. Jared Golden (ME-6), who was the sole Dem to vote for the original CR over a month ago.
As my colleague Sister Toldjah wrote:
It’s official: After a handful of Senate Democrats finally did their part on Monday, the House of Representatives has voted to end the Schumer Shutdown and reopen the government on Wednesday night in a 222-209 vote, with six Democrats voting in favor along with the GOP majority, and two Republicans voting with Democrats against it:
The House on Wednesday passed a sweeping spending package to reopen the government, setting the stage to end a marathon shutdown — the longest in U.S. history — that churned economic turmoil around the country and sparked an internal battle among Democrats over the future of the party and how best to take on President Trump.
The vote in the lower chamber was 222-209, almost strictly along party lines. Only two Republicans opposed the measure, to protest deficit spending, while six Democrats hopped the aisle to support it, citing the importance of getting federal funding flowing again.

Watch as the president signs the bill into law, while making remarks on what it will mean for the American people:

He continued, chiding the Democrats for the “extort[ion]” they inflicted on the country during the Schumer Shutdown:
.@POTUS: “For the past 43 days, Democrats in Congress shut down the government of the United States in an attempt to extort American taxpayers for hundreds of billions of dollars for illegal aliens… Today, we’re sending a clear message that we will NEVER give in to extortion.” pic.twitter.com/kMKncQPsiL

Trump added more on the pain Americans felt, including air traffic controllers at the nation’s airports, and other government workers who did not get paychecks, and those in need who did not get SNAP to feed their families:
.@POTUS: “The Democrats shutdown has inflicted massive harm. They caused 20,000 flights to be cancelled or delayed… they deprived more than 1M government workers from their paychecks and cut off food stamp benefits of millions and millions of Americans in need.” pic.twitter.com/KCdnltt95L
