Adam Peaty’s mother is believed to have discovered considerable comfort – during the ongoing wedding invitation controversy – from what appears to be an unexpected quarter.
Despite the Olympic champion having separated from former partner Eirianedd Munro three years previously, she and Caroline have kept in regular contact, with Caroline frequently spending quality time with her grandson George, born to Eirianedd and Adam in 2020. The 59 year old Caroline recently posted an affectionate message beneath her most recent Instagram upload, which showcased a series of photographs from what appeared to be a relative’s wedding celebration.
This interaction is thought to demonstrate the strong bond between Caroline and Eirianedd, with one insider emphasising that the 27 year old woman, whom Adam encountered whilst training at her university, represents a stark contrast to Holly, offspring of celebrity chef Gordon.
Family bond
The source continued: “Caroline and Eirianedd always stayed in touch. Caroline adores her grandson and he has been the bond between her and Eirianedd. Adam and Eirianedd had a more normal life, it wasn’t A-list like his is now. There weren’t the kind of problems between them all that there are with Caroline, Adam and Holly.
“Caroline is devastated, so it’s nice to see her having any support like this. You couldn’t find two more different women than Holly and Eirianedd. They are chalk and cheese.”
Caroline, a former nursery manager, along with several family members have reportedly been left off the guest list for the couple’s Christmas Day nuptials at Bath Abbey. The decision has been described as “divisive and hurtful” towards Adam and Holly, who announced their engagement last year.
The mum-of-four from Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, was also allegedly excluded from Holly’s hen do amid concerns she “might have stuck out a bit” at the celebration.
Glamorous hen party
Images posted on Instagram, including by Posh Spice, revealed the hen party at the exclusive Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire was a glamorous occasion. The beaming guests were pictured enjoying cocktails and champagne as they marked Holly’s final days before marrying the sportsman.
However, the dispute has apparently caused distress to Caroline, who rose at 4am daily for years to transport her son to the pool, supporting him on his journey to becoming a triple Olympic champion.
She had developed a close bond with Eirianedd during Adam’s relationship with her, having first met as young adults at Loughborough University.
Caroline’s heartbreak
According to the Daily Mail, Caroline commented: “Your mum looks beautiful as do u all x” beneath one of Eirianedd’s infrequent Instagram posts. Eirianedd, who resides in Wales with George, her sister and other relatives, replied: “Doesn’t she, thank you”, accompanied by a red heart emoji.
The source revealed that Caroline needed support during the dispute, which left her “crying all the way home” after dropping George off at Eirianedd’s house following a night of babysitting. She had confessed: “I got home and told Mark [her husband] that for the first time in my life, I felt I didn’t want to live. That’s how low this has made me. I’m a strong woman and I can get through anything, but this has broken me.”
