Things have been pretty intense in Charlotte, North Carolina, over the last week or so, after reports swirled that the next immigration enforcement mission on the DHS’ calendar would be centered in the Queen City and surrounding areas.
That operation, called “Charlotte’s Web,” began on Saturday, with 81 arrests being made on the first day alone, and the number climbing to 130 or so as of midday Monday.
As RedState reported earlier, one of those arrests involved a 24-year-old man who, according to top Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) commander Gregory Bovino, was a U.S. citizen who has since been hit with felony charges related to allegedly assaulting and impeding a federal officer with a white van used to target law enforcement and get away, injuring an officer in the process and endangering many other citizens who were on the road in Charlotte’s University area on Sunday.
And on Monday, another self-proclaimed anti-ICE agitator got cuffed after what Bovino said was a “high-speed pursuit” that started at a gas station in the University area:
At the end of a cul-de-sac on 7736 Newell View Ln., just eight minutes away from campus, was an individual handcuffed and sitting upright against their car, surrounded by six large SUV vehicles and roughly two dozen officers.
Information regarding whether the individual’s identity and exact charges was not provided.
“This individual assaulted a federal officer at a gas station about a mile away, and then engaged officers in a high-speed pursuit, failed to yield to lights and sirens. [They] traveled down this cul-de-sac, came to a stop, and then was arrested,” Bovino said at the site of the arrest.

Today, Border Patrol agents in Charlotte faced another vehicle ramming while in a parking lot.
Agents were preparing for an operation, when a car jumped a curb to enter the parking lot and sped toward agents. The driver was warned to stop and back up. The driver then drove the vehicle toward the exit of the parking lot and waited to try and box in Border Patrol. As agents went to confront the driver, the car rammed a law enforcement vehicle and fled the scene.
Agents pursued the aggressor, eventually stopping the car in a cul-de-sac where the driver was arrested.

Agents gave the individual a warning—They then tried to box agents in to prevent them from leaving. Agents issued another warning. The individual then backed up into a government vehicle, then took off leading agents on a high-speed pursuit for about a mile.
The individual who is reportedly a U.S. citizen was arrested for assault on a federal agent but denied any wrongdoing.

I know this part of the city well and, in fact, caught the tail end of officers cordoning off Newell View Lane as I was out running errands Monday.
As was the case with the Sunday suspect, this one also (allegedly) endangered countless lives, as the route hinted at in news reports likely took the Monday suspect from that gas station (presumably the one at Sandy Ave. and N. Tryon St.) directly through multiple residential areas and past an elementary school on the same road (Rocky River Rd. West) before they ended up in that cul-de-sac.
