The latest weather maps indicate that a significant portion of the UK will be hit with snow this coming weekend, with several cities expected to experience wintry conditions. The UK has been hit with a cold snap, and temperatures are set to drop well below freezing for much of the country in the coming days. Winter has truly arrived for much of Britain, and some areas could even dip as low as minus 9 this week as warm conditions disappear.
The latest maps from WXCharts indicate which areas are likely to be affected, including several major cities across the country. Snow stretches from the northern tip of Scotland all the way down to the seaside city of Brighton on England’s south coast. However, the snow seems to be broken up, and some cities will escape it. Large areas of Scotland and England are expected to experience snow this Sunday, November 23.
However, Scotland will get snow much earlier than that. Weather maps show huge areas of Scotland under snow from tomorrow (Tuesday, November 18), with snowfall intensifying the following day, reaching depths of around 7.9 inches in some places.
When snow arrives in England, it won’t be as heavy. The heaviest snow in England this week is expected to be between two and three inches deep. Meanwhile, Northern Ireland and small areas in Wales are expected to experience snow this Thursday, but it will likely pass by the following day.

The Met Office has said that Britain can experience some rain and snow in the next few days. From Sunday, it forecasts an Atlantic weather front that will “continue to spread east bringing spells of rain or showers, potentially quite widely”.
“Over subsequent days showery conditions will likely continue but there will be some brighter spells at times,” the current forecast reads. “There is also a chance of Atlantic frontal systems moving in from the west at times and temporary periods of northerly flow that may lead to some wintry showers.
“Temperatures will be a little below normal. A westerly dominated pattern will likely persist through to the end of November with outbreaks of rain or showers and temperatures near to or a little below normal.”
