A major US airport terminal has been evacuated after a man claimed he had a bomb in his bag.
Officers detained a man who claimed he had a bomb in his bag at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida.
Airport officials said in a statement that the incident is impacting access to pre-security public areas of the arrival and departure levels of the terminal.
A spokesman told the Miami Herald said: “We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this ongoing investigation.”
Deputies ordered the evacuation of the lower and upper levels of Terminal 4 while did a security sweep, the Sheriff’s Office said around noon.
An airport spokesman said: “An ongoing security-related investigation is impacting access to pre-security public areas of the arrivals and departures levels of Terminal 4 only.
“Law enforcement personnel are diverting airport guests to unaffected terminal areas. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this ongoing investigation.
“This is a developing situation and updates will be posted when available.”

Broward Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Claudinne Caro said: “The lower level and upper levels of Terminal 4 (were) being evacuated while deputies conduct a security sweep.
“At this time, this incident has not affected airport operations.
“The investigation is ongoing.”
Officials for Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport said that airline operations remain unaffected by the incident today.”
