Met Office issues 18-hour warning update as snow and ice to batter 47 areas | Weather | News

The Met Office updated on Wednesday evening one of its snow and ice warnings already in place. The national forecaster warned that wintry showers bringing a risk of ice may lead to some disruption between the evening of November 19 and the morning of November 20.

The forecaster extended its warning in place between 5pm on Wednesday and 11am on Thursday to include much of northern and eastern Lincolnshire. The alert warns Brits that the icy conditions may disrupt transports, likely affecting some roads and railways.

It also warns that some pavements, cycle paths, and untreated roads may become icy in places, posing a threat to safety. Brits should also be mindful to avoid injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

This yellow weather alert for snow and ice is just one of the six in place on Wednesday, affecting a total of 47 areas.

On Thursday, between 3am and 9pm, an amber warning will also come into force in the Redcar and Cleveland, East Riding of Yorkshire and North Yorkshire areas.
