You still see some Western liberals praising Communist China for leading the way on “green” energy. Look at all the solar panels and windmills they produce! say the liberals. Yes, they produce solar panels and wind turbines in factories that run on coal. They sell the solar panels and wind turbines to us, because we are dumb enough to buy them, and because they want to control our economy.
Meanwhile, globalist liberals hector us about cutting our CO2 emissions, while remaining oddly silent about China. Here are the facts, per the Committee to Unleash Prosperity:
This chart that appeared in the latest Economist magazine (the once-respected publication that has gone all in on the anti-growth green crusade) confirms two inconvenient truths that we’ve repeated many times:
First, China is far and away the biggest emitter of greenhouse gases (they burn coal at home and make windmills and solar panels for the suckers in the rest of the world).
Second, the U.S. leads the world in carbon dioxide emission reductions in the last decade because we use more natural gas.
It takes a special kind of cluelessness to want the U.S. to cripple our economy and condemn our next generation to energy poverty, in order to continue to feed China’s economic growth.
