Shooting at Chicago’s Christmas tree lighting event leaves one dead and eight hurt with terrified families forced to run for their lives.

Seven teens, aged 13 to 17, were hit and rushed to Stroger and Lurie Children’s hospitals in fair to good condition.

Police have not identified a motive, and no arrests have been made.

Barely 30 minutes later and four blocks apart, about a 5 minute walk, panic struck again near Adams and Dearborn.

There, officers found two more victims: an 18-year-old man shot in the leg and another person who later succumbed to their injuries at Northwestern Hospital.

Other reports identify the deceased as a fourteen-year-old.

Meanwhile, farther south, from ABC News,

4 injured in shooting near Christmas tree lighting ceremony in North Carolina.

Three people were reported in critical condition.

“Gunfire erupted,” we’re told. Concord, North Carolina, is not exactly a big city.

Police said that the shooting was between two suspects who were known to each other and identified 18-year-old Nasir Ahmad Bostic as one of the shooters.

The other shooter and an accessory were identified as juveniles.
