Body discovered in reservoir after woman found injured in house | World | News

A man’s body has been found in a reservoir after a woman was discovered seriously injured in a house in Co Kildare. Police attended an incident at a house in Oaklawn West in Leixlip, Ireland, where a fire was extinguished.

A woman aged in her 50s was treated at the scene by emergency responders, and was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown for treatment, officials said. The scene was then preserved before a technical examination. This morning, shortly after 6am, police recovered the body of a man aged in his 50s from the Leixlip reservoir. Officers have appealed for witnesses to either incident. Anyone who was in the areas of Oaklawn West, Leixlip, the N4 and the Leixlip reservoir between 5.30am and 8am, and who may have video footage, including dash-cam, have been asked to share it with police.

“Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed either incident to contact them,” a police statement read.

It added: “Anyone with any information is asked to contact Leixlip Garda station on (01) 666 7800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”

Sources told The Irish Times that the investigation is likely to focus on preparing a file for the coroner, rather than a criminal prosecution.
