As we reported, there was a horrible shooting near the White House on Wednesday. Two members of the National Guard were shot in what the FBI is terming an “ambush.” The last report had the two members still in critical condition, according to the FBI. The attack is being investigated as a possible act of international terrorism.
The suspect has been identified as an Afghan national named Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29. Lakanwal entered the country after Joe Biden’s chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan as part of “Operation Allies Welcome.” That raises questions about the vetting process, given the chaos of the process under Biden.

Turns out Lakanwal worked with various United States government entities, including the CIA,
CIA Director John Ratcliffe confirmed that to Fox.
“In the wake of the disastrous Biden withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Biden administration justified bringing the alleged shooter to the United States in September 2021 due to his prior work with the U.S. government, including CIA, as a member of a partner force in Kandahar, which ended shortly following the chaotic evacuation,” CIA Director John Ratcliffe told Fox News Digital.
“The individual—and so many others—should have never been allowed to come here,” Ratcliffe continued. “Our citizens and service members deserve far better than to endure the ongoing fallout from the Biden administration’s catastrophic failures.”
Ratcliffe added: “God bless our brave troops.”
The CIA? Oh. That’s going to raise some eyebrows and prompt a lot of questions.
Hopefully, we are going to get all the details about what he was involved in, what other government agencies he worked with, what the vetting process was, and why he would have allegedly shot at National Guard members. He supposedly lived in Washington state. What was he doing in Washington, D.C.?
The liberal media and the left on Bluesky were already off to the races with bad takes blaming the deployment of the Guard, rather than the alleged shooter. They also had no self-awareness that demonizing the Guard was a bad thing and might have bad results, whatever the particular facts in this case.

The U.S. Customs and Immigration Service announced that it is now suspending processing of immigration requests relating to Afghan nationals pending review of the vetting process.
Effective immediately, processing of all immigration requests relating to Afghan nationals is stopped indefinitely pending further review of security and vetting protocols.
