Meghan Markle has left fans in a muddle after releasing a new product with “illegible” writing. The Duchess of Sussex is offering consumers a chance to buy a leather bookmark alongside As Ever honey at Godmother’s book shop in California.
Accompanying images posted on Instagram by Meghan include a photograph of the leather bookmark clipped to an illustrated book. The bookmark reads: “Fell asleep here”, but fans are having trouble reading the text due to the cursive font. One social media user wrote: “I literally can’t read what the bookmark says!”
Another wrote: “I am not even kidding a little. What does it say? I cannot read that chicken scratch.”
One critic added: “I swear her writing is getting worse. I can barely read it. It should be packaged with a book, no?”
Another said: “What does a bookmark have to do with honey? The last thing I do while I’m reading is use honey. I don’t want sticky pages”
Another questioned why Meghan would sell a bookmark, when she spoke about how she does not have time to read with Bloomberg’s Emily Chang. One critic added: “Meghan admitted to Emily Chang that she doesn’t even read. How can she promote a bookstore?”
Meghan’s lifestyle brand, As Ever, officially launched its first retail partnership with an independent bookstore in Los Angeles.
Located just minutes from Montecito, Godmothers Bookstore is a hub for creativity since opening in 2024. Founded by literary agent Jennifer Rudolph Walsh and entrepreneur Victoria Jackson, the space aims to celebrate women’s voices.
Meghan Markle also recently launched her As Ever products at Soho Home in West Hollywood, much to the surprise of fans.
The duchess took to social media to announce a pop-up store in West Hollywood.
She said: “Talk about a full circle moment! In my old stomping ground of West Hollywood, with a brand, friends, and family that have been part of my life for so long…And also a part of my love story with H (since our very first date was at a SH restaurant).”
Prince Harry has previously detailed how he met Meghan Markle in the private members’ clubs for one of his first dates with the former cable TV actor.
