Man banned from every Tesco, Co-op and Sainsburys in UK | UK | News

A man has been banned from entering a number of shops across the UK. Christopher Moran, 57, is no longer allowed to enter any Tesco, Co-op, Sainsbury’s, B&M, TK Maxx, Iceland, Booths or Trespass store in the country.

The prolific shoplifter pleaded guilty to 10 counts of theft at Preston Magistrates Court on Thursday (November 27). He was sentenced to 12 weeks in custody, which will run alongside a 52-week sentence already being served. Moran, of no fixed address, was also slammed with a five-year criminal behavioural order (CBO).

As reported by the Mirror, he committed a spree of thefts across the South Ribble and Preston areas. As well as being banned from a number of shops, he is also barred from entering Preston Marina, Navigation Way and the entire Penwortham exclusion zone.

He is also required to leave a retailer immediately if requested to do so by an employee. Moran must also return any stock selected before leaving the premises.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “CBOs are used to target individuals who are repeat demand generators and have been identified as often engaging in criminality in a specified area.

“They are given to people who have been convicted of an offence with the aim to prevent them engaging in further criminal behaviour.”

South Ribble Police said in a post on Facebook on Friday (November 28): “This is Christopher Moran; he is a prolific shoplifter who targeted shops across South Ribble and Preston in a sustained shoplifting spree.

“Yesterday, at Preston Magistrates Court he pleaded guilty to 10 counts of theft and was sentenced to 12 weeks imprisonment and issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order for 5 Years. Moran is already in prison serving a 52-week sentence for other offences.

“The CBO bans him from:

  1. Entering any the following stores with the UK: Booths, Iceland, Tesco, Co-Op Food Store, Sainsburys, B&M Bargains, TK Maxx, and Trespass.
  2. Entering Preston Marina, Navigation Way, Preston.
  3. Entering the area of Penwortham, as outlined by the attached map.
  4. If requested to leave any retail premises by any employee of those premises, do so immediately, returning any stock selected prior to the request before doing so.”
