I keep asking myself how many warnings this country needs before we wake up. How many terror attacks, near terror attacks, press briefings, police shootings, and jaw-dropping revelations does it take for people to admit that the Biden years were not just sloppy; they were reckless. And the fallout is landing right here, in our neighborhoods, in real time.
Against the backdrop of last Wednesday’s terrorist attack in D.C., where one National Guard member was killed, and another was seriously injured by a suspect who has been identified as an Afghan national, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stood behind the podium on Monday and read off a list that should have shaken the entire political class.
Instead, half the press took a sip of Kombucha, shrugged, and pretended she was reading off the Farmer’s Almanac. But it was not weather patterns. It was not trivia. It was a ledger of imported danger. A paper trail of what happens when an administration values political optics over national security.
“There was an Afghan national who was let into the country under the Biden administration through Operation Allies Welcome, who shot and wounded two Fairfax, Virginia police officers during a routine traffic stop. He was killed by return fire after declaring, quote, ‘I should have served with the [expletive] Taliban.'”
“Two Afghan nationals were given legal status by the Biden administration as well, who were arrested and prosecuted for plotting a terrorist attack in Oklahoma just before Election Day in 2024. We all remember that. They possessed hundreds of rounds of ammunition and had pledged their allegiance to ISIS.”
“There was also an Afghan national who is on the terror watch list who was apprehended by Border Patrol in 2024, but then he was released into our country by the Biden administration!”

Let’s start with the obvious: The Afghan national waved through under Operation Allies Welcome, who shot two Fairfax cops during what should have been a normal traffic stop. This man was only stopped by return fire after declaring he should have served with the Taliban. That is not a misunderstood refugee. That is someone who told us exactly who he was and exactly which side of history he preferred.

Then we move on to the two other Afghan nationals who received legal status. Legal status. Not a pat down at the border. Not a flagged profile. Legal status under Biden’s team. And what did they do with that gracious gift from the most generous administration on earth? They got to work planning a terrorist attack in Oklahoma right before the 2024 election. They pledged allegiance to ISIS and sat on hundreds of rounds of ammunition. You can thank Biden’s immigration roulette wheel for that little blessing.
And if that is not enough, try this last one on for size: An Afghan national who was already on the terror watch list was apprehended by Border Patrol in 2024. You would assume the next step would be handcuffs, a detention facility, a call to counterterrorism. Maybe even a single functioning brain cell would think that. But the Biden administration simply released him into the country.
Released. Into. The. Country.
Some people get parking tickets that haunt them longer than this man stayed in custody.
The Biden White House called this compassion. They called it humanitarianism. They called it moral leadership. I call it betrayal. Karoline Leavitt called it betrayal, too. And she is right. You do not protect Americans by importing danger and hoping your talking points hold up when the bullets start flying.
The sad part is that none of this is shocking. We lived through four years of the Biden border experiment. Four years of fantasy policy dressed up as virtue. Four years of Democrats insisting that the real danger was anyone who questioned open borders. Remember when they told us it was xenophobic to ask whether people pouring in were being properly vetted. Remember when they said the Afghanistan withdrawal was a success. Remember that photo of Biden checking his watch during the dignified transfer of the 13 fallen service members. That told us everything before we even had the words for it.
The list Leavitt read is not the full story. It is the evidence we can’t ignore. It is the physical proof of what happens when a government decides that protecting feelings is more important than protecting people. The Biden administration gambled with American safety. They lost. The country paid the price.
This betrayal never needs to happen again. The adults are back in the room now, and the clean-up is underway, but we need to stay loud about the cost of Biden’s negligence. If we stay quiet, they will try to rewrite this, too. They will pretend it was all an overreaction. They will tell us the terror watch list guy was probably misunderstood. They always do.
But the receipts are out now. The damage is real. The Biden years invited threat after threat into our borders, and the rest of us were told to clap like trained seals and call it progress.
Never again. Not on our watch.
