Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are facing criticism for hypocrisy after their Archewell Foundation published a report slamming “profit-driven” social media influencers. The study, which promoted role models motivated by causes over money and followers, seems to clash with the Sussexes’ commercial ventures since Megxit.
Newsweek‘s Jack Royston cited their lucrative deals, estimated at over £91million with Netflix and Spotify, as a major conflict with the report’s anti-commercial stance, saying Archewell’s criticisms of others “chime with numerous major criticisms of the couple throughout their post-royal lives”. Adding to the tension, Meghan recently relaunched her Instagram to promote her As Ever lifestyle brand. However, a Sussex source defended the couple, arguing they “have to make money to survive” unlike the taxpayer-funded royals, positioning them as an “activist-driven brand” akin to Patagonia.
