Meghan Markle‘s brother has revealed his one wish for his sister as their father “fights for his life”. The 81-year-old is currently in intensive care in a hospital in the Philppines, his son has said.
After becoming seriously ill at home, he was then rushed to hospital. Thomas Jr. said: “I took dad to a hospital close to our home and they did various scans and the doctors said his life was in imminent danger. They raced us by ambulance, with the sirens going, to a much bigger hospital in the center of the city. My dad has undergone emergency surgery.”
Meghan, 44, and her father have not been on speaking terms since 2018, but he has said in many interviews that he would like for them to reconcile.
Just before Meghan and Harry’s royal wedding, which he did noT attend due to ill health, he staged paparazzi photos and later lied about his involvement.
Meghan is said to have felt betrayed by her father, which saw the estrangement deepened. Due to no longer speaking to his daughter, Thomas has never met his grandchildren, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.
After thanking everyone for their thoughts and prayers for his father, Thomas Jnr then expressed his one wish for Meghan.
He said: “My only wish is that Meghan shows my father some compassion. He is literally fighting for his life”.
Also speaking of their father, Thomas’s daughter – and Meghan’s half-sister – Samantha, 61, told the Daily Mail: “He is a strong man, but he has been through so much.
“I am praying that he is strong enough to survive this. My father has been through two heart attacks, a stroke and an earthquake. I hope he can pull through this.”
Thomas Jnr added that he underwent three hours of surgery on Thursday and now faces a second procedure to remove a blood clot. The news of her father’s health came on Wednesday, a day which saw the release of her Christmas special of With Love, Meghan.
