Samsung has just unveiled a smartphone that folds not once, but twice.
Dubbed the Galaxy Z TriFold, this handset opens up to reveal a massive 10-inch screen, essentially giving you a tablet that fits in your pocket.
The unveiling of this particular foldable mobile has been highly anticipated, as rumours have been swirling around for months — with many speculating about what nifty features this gadget will possess.
“Samsung’s relentless pursuit of new possibilities continues to shape the future of mobile experiences,” said TM Roh, the company’s Device eXperience Division chief. “Galaxy Z TriFold solves one of the mobile industry’s longest-standing challenges, delivering the perfect balance between portability, premium performance and productivity all in one device.”
While it’s not the first of its kind, it will be the first one from Samsung. Once the phone is officially released, it may directly compete against the Huawei Mate XT, the only other commercially available trifold phone.

At first glance, Samsung has packed in some seriously impressive features. At the handset’s slimmest point, you’re looking at just 3.9mm — that’s thinner than most pencils.
The camera setup is nothing to sniff at either, with a 200-megapixel sensor capturing your shots.
The cover screen uses Dynamic 2X AMOLED technology with a 120Hz refresh rate set up for buttery-smooth scrolling.
Brightness-wise, you’re getting up to 2,600 nits on the outer display and 1,600 nits on the main screen — which is plenty if you’re outside in the sun. Its added Vision Booster feature will automatically adjust colour and contrast depending on your lighting conditions.
And if you’re worried about battery life with that enormous folding screen, Samsung has thought of that too.
They’ve fit their largest battery ever into a 5,600mAh system split across all three panels. This clever design means power gets distributed evenly throughout the device.
Running the show is a customised Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and when you do need to top up, 45W fast charging gets you back in action quickly.

In terms of durability, the company has developed what they call the Armor FlexHinge, which is essentially two differently sized hinges working together with a dual-rail structure. This setup creates a smoother, more stable fold despite the varying weight across the device.
The hinges sit inside titanium housing, which protects the folding mechanism and resists wear over time. The frame itself uses something called Advanced Armor Aluminum — a high-strength alloy that keeps everything rigid without adding bulk.
On the back, you’ll find a ceramic-glass fibre-reinforced polymer panel that stays thin while resisting cracks.

The Galaxy Z TriFold will also be Samsung’s first mobile phone to offer standalone Samsung DeX – meaning you can set up a proper desktop-style workspace without needing any external equipment.
You can access up to four separate workspaces, each running five apps at the same time.
Fancy adding a monitor? Extended Mode lets you drag and drop between screens just like you would on a laptop.
Samsung’s Galaxy AI aims to make large-screen devices even easier to use. Its photo editing tools will now scale smoothly to the display, and Browsing Assist can summarise or translate web pages in real time, streamlining everyday tasks.
Meanwhile, Google-powered Gemini Live introduces multimodal AI capable of interpreting what you’re seeing, saying, and doing. This allows questions to be answered and actions to be suggested without switching between apps, offering a more seamless and context-aware experience.
If you’re looking to get your hands on Samsung’s first trifolding model, you’ll need to hold tight. The device will debut in South Korea on December 12, 2025, with no confirmed release date yet for the UK.
