Police have launched an urgent appeal for witnesses after a man was sexually assaulted by another man at a popular lake. A man was reportedly sitting on a bench at Gloucester Boating Lake when a man approached and sat down next to him.
Gloucestershire Police said the victim has stated that the suspect then “winked” at him, made a sexualised comment, and “touched his thigh” before leaving when asked to. The horrifying alleged incident took place between 12.50pm and 1.20pm on November 25.
According to the police, the suspect is reported to be a white male in his twenties, standing at approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall. Witnesses noted that he had dark, brownish hair, styled with the sides cut short above the ears while the top was left longer.
At the time of the incident, he was dressed in dark clothing, which may have made him less noticeable in low light conditions. He was also wearing distinctive black trainers marked with white stripes, the police said.
Investigators are relying on this description to piece together his movements and are urging anyone who may have seen someone matching these features to come forward with information.
The police said: “Enquiries are continuing and investigating officers are now asking anyone who witnessed what happened or who was in the area at the time to make contact with them.”
